Education comes from attending school. Intelligence is the ability to think or reason. The ability to spell is not an indicator of either education or inelegance.
The individual that LN quoted either lacks in intelligence or just simply cannot communicate.
Here in Texas, as well as other parts of the US, we have a situation where English is the second language. This creates an entire set of situations of a different nature.
Now to throw gas on the fire, I have known a number of English teachers who were flawless in their grammar and yet very limited in their ability to think logically.

I agree with you, Bull149. When I was younger and more naive, I thought that an inability to spell was indicative of a lack of intelligence. Now I know that many intelligent and educated individuals just don't have that particular skill. I will argue, though, that these same people should at least be able to use a simple spellcheck if they want to come across as the intelligent, educated people they are.
Also, given the choice, I would much rather be an intelligent, logical person who lacks in some areas than a person who can only learn a set of rules and stick to them.

You nailed it CD. A spell checker does not catch all errors however.

That being said China or should I call you Ms Doll as you are the teacher I'm trying to impress. lol I misspelled one word so if this were a graded paper it would still be a 98% if those other areas are correct, which you did not state if they were. So............... were they?

SNL, some of us(ME) need all the help we can get, I'm the first to admit I am a very poor speller. It's something I struggled with in school and very much confused the teachers as I read on a much higher level than those in my class. My reading and comprehension were always high, spelling and grammar always low. It's just how I'm wired I guess.

Would you like me to add those points up for you?
Sweet and Little, I only partially agree with you about the "spellcheck is cheating" comment. I never use it, but I think that if people need it, they should use all of the tools they have at their disposal. It also takes some knowledge to know how to use the spellcheck in the first place; sometimes it overcorrects and judgment must be used.

I refuse this on the grounds that it is not in it's original context
of the original post that you sited only the spelling error. How's that for a run on sentance? And yes China, you win I'm done. I know I lack the education to go at this with you.

When your ass is kicked, the smart guy throws in the towel and admits defeat! I did that many posts ago.
My "like" factor of ChinaDoll has increased exponentially with this thread!

Mine too Chica, mine too. Something about having your butt kicked by a beautiful woman, just makes you like her more.
Looks like I'm 1 and 1 for the posting this week, might be time to quit while I'm even.
