...When California does it they put it to a public referendum.
Just say you have no earthly idea of the difference, without saying you have no earthly idea.
The citizens (are they really?) demanded to take that authority away from their government some time ago, based on past cause.
Texans have not seen a need to do so.
The people of CA by a 2 to 1 margin agreed to a redraw of the CA congressional map...
I always thought litigators spent most of their time researching. Guess not. So far the peasants have "temporarily allowed" Big Daddy to draw the map.
Quote:
California Citizens Redistricting Commission (CCRC)
...The commission previously drew the boundaries for California's US congressional House of representative districts, but since the passage of Proposition 50 in 2025, that authority was transferred to the California General Assembly...
Another summary of Prop 50:
Quote:
...The measure allows California to temporarily adopt legislatively drawn congressional maps from 2026 through 2030, overriding the independent California Citizens Redistricting Commission...
So in actuality, big daddy gubmint, wrested control of redistricting from the citizenry, back in house, because Texas Man Bad.
Ain't Socialism grand? NYC is gonna luv it.
Anyone else wonder why they even had a California Citizens Redistricting Commission (CCRC) in the first place?
Learning history could be a thing again. Maybe not.
Is there a point in there anywhere WYID? Seems like a lot of rage posting.
So please tell us how New York has fallen to “socialism.” What city services and programs are going to be ripped from the hands of the poor unwitting people of NYC?
I’m curious because the ECCIE MAGAs have ranted about this for weeks yet outside of one or two city-owned grocery stores, it sure seems like most city services are already socialized.
Before you start screaming about rent controlled housing in Manhattan, do some reading up.
Otherwise, get a heavy duty umbrella to protect you from that falling sky.
Regarding California, I’ll bed you’d know about that commission if you knew how laws are passed in California. You obviously don’t. But at least you managed to drop an R bomb.
...So please tell us how New York has fallen to “socialism.”...
If we are speculating about their near term future, given MudBrain ain't in office yet, Imma guess that "FREE" bus service will quickly turn in to rolling homeless shelters. Likely they will bend the knee to the Climate Doom and go all electric even. I mean, WTF, it's "FREE" and all.
If the people are PISSED they should stop drinking for dry November. Unless of course they’re Democrats, then most likely the government, lobbyists, corporate sponsors, or Soros have bought and paid for their drinks.
If Republicans are PISSED, they most likely are spending their well earned bonuses on fine women, wine, and/or aged whisky.
British English (UK/Ireland/Australia): "Pissed" means drunk or intoxicated. To express anger, a British person would typically use the phrase "pissed off."
Cheers!
I think the saloon is open now.

As one member here used the term shellacking for a narrow win of Fearless Leader. If that is so, with the (at least one) order of magnitude greater win, it was a drop your pants, no vaseline, shellac dildo up the ass loss for maggies.

Let's review some numbers, shall we? (Not counting the newly elected)
New Jersey Governors since 2002 Democrat: 4 governors serving total of 5 terms Republican: 1 governor serving total of 2 terms Notables: Not counting 1 Dem gov that served 3 days. Phil Murphy promised to raise taxes for his 2nd term and did.
New York City Mayors since 1946 Democrat: 9 Mayors serving total of 15 terms Republican: 3 Mayors serving total of 4 terms Notables: Michael Bloomberg served 1st term as Republican, 2nd as Independent. Apparently nobody wanted to claim the runt for his 2nd term. There was John Lindsey who served 1 term as Republican and 1 as Democrat.
Virginia Governors since 1874 Democrat: 31 Governors serving a total of 31 terms Republican: 7 Governors serving a total of 7 terms Notables: Youngkin (R) was a RINO deluxe
NQNS. Eh Comrade?
Appreciate those numbers.

Maggies do things to appease the orange dough ball.
Democracy does what the peoples will.
And that was demonstrated directly though the ballot box, no filter.

Hmmm. And to think he (or maybe that north tejas guy) said he was placid. Somebody is internally toiling.
