Well Mr Gristle, define bum. I find it rich when a schmo on a hooker board who hasn’t accomplished much in life or played a minute of organized sports call a professional athlete a “bum”. Only 32 guys on earth are good enough to be declared a starting QB in the NFL. Some are better than others sure. Has Fields reached his immense potential? No. I’ve admitted that. It’s why he’s “only” making 15 million per year.
But the fact of the matter is he’s been in less than great situations. He hasn’t played with an Offensive minded HC and bad Franchises. His best shot was with the Steelers. He wasn’t a “bum” here. Arty Smith preferred him over Wilson. He saw a better version of Ryan Tannehill who he coached to an AFC title game. So did everyone else in the South Side except Tomlin. That’s why they wanted him back. Not because they thought he was a “bum”. I suspect Smith would have got more out of Fields. And he convinced Tomlin and Rooney. But the Jets outbid them. Because Woody Johnson thought he was good enough to guarantee him $30 million.
Before you and Victory call anyone a “bum”, look in the mirror first. Neither of you have been the “man in the arena”. You’re just “bums” on a hooker board.
