The most politically connected person I know believes Trump will lose because of “Real Republicans”, as McCain puts it. This surprised me because he’s a huge Trump fan, in the same league with Salty. He told me that last week after he got back from a nonprofit board meeting in Austin. The other board members are Republicans, although he’d classify them as RINOS. He says none of them are voting for Trump. So while he agrees with Trump on almost everything and believes Biden stole the election, he thinks Trump will lose because a lot of Republican voters will defect and vote for Biden. Or just not vote.

ones who voted in the primarys so far.

The voters who gave Trump some Historic Wins.
Trump was the OVERWELMING Choice.

Whether your group wants to believe that or not.

Just reporting what he said Salty, although I happen to agree with him.

He lead into all this by saying something like, “There just aren’t that many real Republicans.” In a sad voice. Please note his and McCain’s definitions of “real Republican” are polar opposites.

And yeah, 80% of Republicans may support Trump. But if the other 20% defect, Trump’s toast.

Biden may lose a few Progressives but not a lot. He’s taken the Democratic Party to the left of where it was when Obama and Clinton led the party.

And what goes for card carrying Republicans goes double for Republican-leaning independents.

You’ve got McCain’s definition of a Real Republican. And you’ve got my friend’s, and his definition is the same as yours. He believes real Republicans (his definition) will vote for Trump. And I’m sure he believes Trump will carry Texas.

I also believe Trump will WIN Texas, which is why
I was laughing.

Just to be clear; although I thought I was, I believe real Republicans fucking hate Trump because of how much he has ruined their party. I don't consider MAGA nuts to represent Republican values in a leader and a compassionate human being. Trump represents nothing but hostility, vengeance and immaturity. Those are not the core values of the Republican party IMO.

you could easily make a case for that considering i think Ike is one of the three best presidents of modern American politics. the others are Reagan and Trump.

I don't completely disagree with you. What I do disagree with you about is your assertion that it does not matter if some Republicans change sides. This will be a close election. Every vote will count in those many swing states.
