We would be even richer...
Actually, a Saudi-Iran war that choked off the flow of oil through the Strait of Hormuz would take even MORE than 10 million bpd off the market if it also stopped the flow of Kuwaiti, Iraqi, Iranian and UAE crude supplies.

Your claim that the US could nearly double our domestic oil production in 9 months proves you know nothing about geology, reserves, fracking or energy economics. Unless you're just being facetious again.

The jest of the article were some assumptions that Marshall fails to acknowledge. ..1) Oil Prices need to rise 2) Electric Car consumption needs to increase too.

So yes we can be energy independent if gas prices hit 5 dollars a gallon and everyone buys an electric car and we convert all our refineries from heavy crude production to light!

It is jest if you think that article backs up you assertion that we are energy independent.

Not even the article you cited believes that.

It called for high oil prices and a shift to electric cars.

Hell one can do that with a gas tax....is that what you are suggesting?

Interesting definition of "energy independence." Some oil enters and exits the country for various reasons, but the long and short of it is that the US currently produces about 11MM bpd, give or take a little, and consumes 19 or 20. And extended projections that involve bending that trajectory significantly contain a lot of rosy assumptions and wishful thinking. See a slight arithmetic problem here? LOL

You unrealistically wiped 10M bpd out of the world market. If you did that, production elsewhere would ramp up. 9 months? Easily, if that...

That has to do with cost and ability to transport oil around df...If you are in MI, are transportation costs cheaper if you bought from Canada or TX? Do you know?

Who thinks the Department of Energy is wrong when they claim we are the energy superpower of the world?
