As an RVN vet who had a very different experience coming home, I am gratified to see that we are not still treating service people in the way that we did then.

While the decision to send troops to Iraq an Afghanistan (like Viet Nam) was controversial, I am glad to see that we are not taking our angst and unhappiness out on those who voluntarily chose to serve our country. I have to admit to feeling that sometimes we go over the top, glorifying military service (and with it the war itself) over other forms of public service, I will gladly take that over they way that veterans of Viet Nam were "welcomed" home. For me, it was harder than my time in country to come home to such open vitriol.
