Loose Change
I rented the pseudo-documentary "Loose Change" to watch during the plane ride on a recent trip back home to Florida.
In case you haven't heard of it, it is about the so-called government conspiracy covering up the "fact" that we-the U.S.A.-actually attacked ourselves on 9/11, that it was an inside job.
I've never subscribed to the belief that our government would be capable of such a thing, although I have to admit a general distrust of government in general-and politicians in particular.
But so many people seem to be convinced about this whole conspiracy thing I figured I'd check it out. Even though I might not agree with a certain point of view, I like to still hear all sides of a story before I make up my mind about anything. I used to live by a little bookstore when I lived in Atlanta(and worked at the Cheetah) that carried The Daily Worker-the Communist paper. I always read it. Not because I'm a Communist or even a Communist sympathizer, but because different points of view interest me.
Anyway, the film was very fascinating. Although it didn't change my mind that 9/11 was a government conspiracy, it did bring to light some facts that I find hard to explain.
*Building 7 coming down so quickly, after only suffering a few fires and little apparent damage, with many who escaped describing hearing explosions before the building collapsed on itself.
*Out of all the tons and tons of charred rubble of the World Trade Centers, they were able to find the passports and drivers licenses of the hijackers that flew the planes. Both of them.
*A very poorly trained, unskilled pilot was able to do a very tricky and skilled maneuver, flying flight 77 exactly into the part of the Pentagon that had been recently re-enforced to withstand a direct hit of a Boeing 767-which flight 77 was.
Like I said, I still find the whole "conspiracy" thing hard to believe, but it was a very compelling film.
Has anyone else seen it? What do you think? H
