Do any of you think it's a strong possibility that whoever wins the GOP nomination will pick a VP that was running for POTUS.
For example if Romney wins- can you see him picking Bachman, Cain, Huntsman, Gingrich, Perry, Santorum, Pawletny(sp), or Paul?

The only when in the group who I can possibly see as a VP is either Huntsman, Cain or Perry- not that they wold be great choices but I can see them accepting the nod.

I think Gingrich would be insulted to be VP and Paul flat out wouldn't do it IMHO. Santorum is iffy but I wouldn't be surprised. If somehow Mitt doesn't get the nod no way will he play 2nd fiddle either.

If you look outside those contenders the 2 names are Christie and Rubio- Christie has said he's not interested and Rubio would only work with certain candidates.

I think Newt would take the VP slot, then start looking for a good long range marksman....lol.

I would like a Newt/Romney better or possibly a Romney/Santorum anything other than what we have....

There are many choices for many different reasons. I also think it is a little premature to nominate Romney.
Regional: Romney (Mass.)-Rubio (FL), Brownback (KS), Jindal (LA), Cain (GA)
Gringrich (VA/GA)-Romney (MA), Santorum (PA),
Philosophical: Romney (mod)-Rubio (con), Haley (TEA),
Gringrich (?)-Romney (mod), Brownback (con)
Experience: Romney (business)-West (military), Gringrich (government), Cantor (government)
Gringrich (academia/government)- Romney (business), Cain (business)
Celebrity: Romney/Gringrich-Palin, Jindal, Haley, Paul, Cain, Bachmann

Sorry, can't think of a west coast or mountain state heavyweight.

Romney wants to win so bad, he will ask Ron Paul. The only way an Republican will beat Obama is if Paul is on the ticket. As a Ron Paul supporter, not a Republican supporter, I will stay home on election day if Ron isn't on the top 2 of a ticket. Many of my friends also feel that way. Could lead to doom and gloom in the House and Senate races. Will the Republicans wise up?

With all due Respect a Romney and Paul ticket will never happend- they are so opposite in view points that I could never see that happening- I really can't see Paul being anyone vp- Paul is in a league of his own and just would not gel with Romney.

How about a MFF ticket of Newt, Palin and Bachmann. Never mind. Palin and Bachmann would need to complete a two-year internship at the History Channel or Newt would only be interested in them as a BI-weekly replacement for Calista.

Man, don't stay home! Gary Johnson will likely get the Libertarian nomination. Get out and for him or another third party, if only to register your dislike for the two main choices. I consider it a vote for "neither of the above." The only way we can get the country on the right track is to try to oust the two major parties. We can't do that by staying home.

The VP discussion is likely to begin and end at Marco Rubio. The Hispanic population is the fastest growing segment in the USA and also the fastest growing voting block. Rubio is young, more conservative than Mitt, and will be the first Hispanic major office holder. I expect Barry the Intern to look for a Hispanic candidate or a female candidate to dump Joe the Foot in Mouth diseased VP.
