Grover Norquist, the single handed creator of the no new tax policy signed by every new republican into congress(1988-2020), has ruined this country. Like Obama was mis-quoted as saying, you didn't build it, it was already there supplied by the government for you to exploit, use and abuse, then expect not to replace it or help build it back for others. The feeling this country owes you something, and that you don't owe anything back is disgusting and unamerican. Corporations are unamerican, they are mini monoplies designed to extract resources and wealth while never replacing it, or paying a fair price for what they are abusing.

I'm curious what Americans think are fair taxes, based on incomes.
I know the republicans out number democrats in upset NY 9 to 1, so most opinions here will be Republican opinions.

Income for a single worker, age 20-30, no kids unmarried.
keeping it simple, not involving multiple married, with kids options...

single earner income: $15,000

Single $30,000

single $55,000 - NYS average salary

single $75,000

single $100,000

single $200,000

single $500,000

single $1,000,000

Ill post my opinion and encourage others to keep it simple

$15k, no tax.... $30k - $3k, $55k- $4k, $75k - $8k

$100k - $12k, $200k - 30k, $500k - $150, 1M$ - $325k

don't need to talk per-centages, it confuses people, the majority of people don't know how tax tables work and only hear numbers like %25 0r %39 and think its a simple calculation, when its not applied as you would believe it is applied.

If you're confused by percentages, you shouldn't be part of a discussion on tax rates. If you're an adult, earning money and responsible for your own personal economy and you're confused by percentages or numbers in general for that matter. You should probably go to school and take some simple math courses.

I am a fan of the flat tax. Paid flat tax in PA for state tax when I lived there and it is simple and equitable. Agree on the rate and apply it to any active or passive income. Progressive tax simply penalizes people who earn more and at its core is a redistribution of wealth. With flat tax people who earn more pay more but in an equitable fashion. However it does put a lot of accountants and financial advisors out of work since there are no loopholes.
