For me it's mostly because I can pretty much get what I want sexually by doing some research.

In my experience, providers are far better at sex than civilians. Unfortunately, you can't go to a website and read reviews of civilians like you can for providers. So a civilian encounter is potluck.

There is also a safety/health factor. Any civilian encounter has a high degree of uncertainty about if she/he is safe? do they get tested? Most providers test regularly, or at least claim they do.
