I plead ignorance, what's a bed pan?

@ Dilbert - when I read your question I realized I should have written chamber pot and not bed pan. Bed pans are still commonly used in hospitals and retirement homes, but I think the day of the chamber pot has long since passed. The chamber pot, like the bed pan, is a toilet without plumbing which was/is commonly stored under the bed for quick and easy access - especially during the night. Nurses and care takers actually place bed pans in the bed for the infirm to relieve themselves. The following morning, chamber pots would be emptied at the user's convenience so as to be ready for the next emergency. There was a time when these chamber pots were emptied into the streets from the balconies of homes for the next rain to carry it all away. The use of chamber pots in New Orleans is famous. Following the Battle of New Orleans in 1862, during the Civil War, Maj. Gen. Benjamin Butler (a Yankee general) issued his infamous General Order #28 wherein he impugned the ladies of New Orleans by calling them all SWs. Thereafter, these ladies achieved a modicum of revenge by placing and sealing Butler's picture on the bottom of their chamber pots; many of which remained in use into the 20th century. Needless to say, some of these chamber pots - in order to achieve another degree of revenge - were emptied into the streets when Yankee soldiers were walking in the streets below. Anyway, back to the original remark, My business was done, and I was dressing to leave when the young lady I was with pulled out her chamber pot and tinkled as we engaged in conversation. It was a unique experience for me.

First time poster here. This is a great thread to get started on, I suppose.

It was actually at a MP after a bachelor party. Someone suggested it, and I was feeling good anyway, so we went. Unfortunately, I was so nervous, my knees were knocking. I totally didn't enjoy it and felt miserable for roughly a year afterwards.

I've only done it once after that and again, it was so hard to enjoy with the thoughts of LE busting down a door. My life at the time would have been destroyed.

I haven't done it since (9 years now). I considered it recently (which I suppose is why i'm here now) but the prices are out of my league with the economy like it is.

My first time in the hobby was great. I was nervous but the provider was recommended by Big C. I ahd lurked on ASPD for about 6 months and asked C for some help. He introduced me to a UTR lady in New Orleans and teh experience was something great. I was hooked and have been ever since.

I am still on the outside of the hobby, and I am reading here to learn, but I plan to be busting that cherry very soon.

chella,

I have to take issue with part of your subject line "Busting the Hobby Cherry!" in this thread. I think "busting" is the wrong word to use to describe what is essentially virgin territory upon entering the world of the Hobby. maybe "breaking" may be a better word.

Like Giz, Angie was among the first from the Internet, or AOL to be specific. First was a French 'Poule' at the First Port, LeHavre, France on my first trip to sea as an 18YO Cadet.
Been at it ever since. To quote the famous English Jean from Lucky Pierres, 'I took to it like a Duck to Water.'

Oh Ronmet a man in uniform, my weakness!

and Dilbert, I used the term "busting" since I recall in highschool we called it that. Guess I dont think in the "hobby"frame of mind 24/7 so forgive me if I alarmed you. I think you may have too much idle time on your hands to think that deeply. just saying...
