I like the idea...especially on out of town business trips. I'm often there by myself, so the dinner company would be nice. Do you have much success with this approach?

Does something like Huck's arrangement interest you? Appetizer in the room, dinner somewhere nice, and dessert back at the room? Would you consider that a deal at your two hour rate? Or, do you have a non-BCD rate that would be applied?

The first time I did this, it was suggested by the provider (in south Texas). Since then, I have requested the arrangement when I am seeking a multi-hour date. The lady has the absolute right to decline if it doesn't fit her business plan... certainly no hard feelings on my part...

Maybe I'm so charming, the ladies can't resist... (or maybe the provider just enjoys a nice dinner with an older gentleman).

Agreed. My favorite as well. They become even more enjoyable when I've seen the lady before. Just the familiarity factor, I suppose. And always at the hotel restaurant for me, or one in the immediate area.

My counsel? Gentlemen, be sure the lady understands that YOU understand that dinner is also paid companionship. When the expectations are understood upfront, both relax a bit more and the friendship formed over dinner almost always makes for a better dessert.

The easiest way is simply to book a four hour session and suggest that it begin with dinner. I will then mention that "I regret that I must wind up our date around 10:00pm." Never had a problem.

I think that's great! I have had meals with a couple of providers OTC and, I agree, it makes the BCD activities far more enjoyable. Obviously, I expect to pay for dinner (somewhere nice) and I believe a tip is probably in order, as she could easily offer this time to another client at her full rate. It's this type of relationship that will keep me rescheduling with the same provider...even when there are many others to choose from.

I'm not necessarily that type of client, but I definitely enjoyed the 'get to know you' portion of my OTC time. By the way, I'll be in Houston next month for a conference...just sayin'!
