You (and others) are watching too much TV Nina, that's what happened.
Women want guys to be like Alan Alda, George Clooney, Justin Beiber, Jersey Shore Juice heads, Phil Donahue, House, Brad Pitt, The Bachelor, etc. Then they don't. Then they do.
That's why so many guys here just pay for it.

What happened to men?
There are so many variables at play here that it's hard to say exactly what the core reason is for the change.
Maybe men have just gone soft, but female tastes in men also have much to do with what is considered popular.
How else would you explain someone like Justin Bieber becoming such a hit.
. . . Personally, I find someone so effeminate somewhat nauseating, but he still generates quite a buzz with the younger crowd which I do not understand at all!
