Westminster Abby is an interesting visit (assuming your still there after it's being used for the wedding). Watch the floor and see who's buried there (bonus points: amongst all the famous folks find the agnostic and the plumber).

Elsewhere, if you need to prepare for your safari, check out Holland and Holland. I'm not a hunter, nor am I anywhere in the league of those that shop there but it is an interesting place to visit. Founded in the early 1800's they still hand make rifles and shotguns. Weaponry as artwork. Their order book usually runs three years.

There's a mass exodus: 20% are expected to leave the city, about two million are leaving the country.

Ah well, I'll get out of it what I can!

Tell me about that wedding! My company has a major presence in the UK and suddenly key staff are "out on hols"..... Wished those two would hurry up and get married so I can get my desk cleared out. The people I work with are DEFINITELY part of that 20%, I think one even went to some Spanish islands another to Greece. (That would be sweet to escape like that.) Talking to someone who got stuck staying, it's like a ghost town with so many people taking days off to take advantage of the gift of bank holidays.

I know the Brits are serious about their holidays, I spent 4 years living amongst them in the early 90s.

Kate provided? Maybe she still does? I wonder what her screening is like? Is she GFE or PSE? CBJ? Is she trim, bare or "natural?" Screamer/moaner? Implants? Greek? MSOG?

My mind just wanders on this (my brain is small, so not much travel distance).

You've obviously never seen the Japanese in Honolulu

Seriously this kind of thing (the exodus) is normal. When the Olympics were in Atlanta I can tell you how many people left for two weeks, some renting their homes/flats for a sum that paid much more than a nice family vacations.

Similar to what SRO said about festivals, even now when there is a major sporting event (Bowl Game etc.) I know better than to try to drive in the city or go out to eat. I know a couple of local places the tourists never find & seek refuge there or stay home. On the other hand I have a great appreciation for the economic impact these events have. They pay the bills and let us locals enjoy a lot of nice places the other 360 days a year.

With his credentials out there today I would have thought he could get around easily now.

Oh gosh yes... I remember one time when i was new to the city and it started pouring rain, and lexington avenue was closed and i was not aware of it and i was trying to get a cab. The cabs were not holding for some reason and i seriously thought it was because of me and i started to take that personally, since not a single f.ing cab was holding for me :-).

I started to cry in the middle of the street, because i was so exhausted and annoyed. Then one of these officers who stand at some corners (who are they??) came to me and asked me what was wrong.
I told him crying tears all over "I can`t get a cab" :.))))..

He was looking at me for a moment - not believing what he heard - and then told me with all sincerety "Well, Ma`am , this is New York City" .... :-) as if i should not expect anything different

I will never forget that ever :-)

As an FYI, on Sirius 100, they are airing "A Royal Waste Of Time" from 5:30 to 7:30 eastern. I love the title. BTW, it is the Howard Stern channel.

People have been camped outside for 4 days before the wedding, through cold nights, and light showers. I just don't get it.

DG knows how to put himself in other people's shoes and mindset! Do so and you can easily understand these folks obsession.

I sleep with the tv on and happened to wake up as the Queen was getting out of her car, Kate looked rather nice but I fell back asleep while the choir was singing sweet nothings. Weather looked rather pleasant, good for the Brits.
