You’re only fooling yourself Mr Gristle. Its your most endearing quality. It’s the democrats shutdown. How delicious.
I don't think the GOP yet realizes that they own this- the spin machine to get them out of that pocket is in overtime. FOX and all the conservative outlets are on hyperdrive trying to re-label it, but it's ok. Their moment to claim a lap due to getting the government re-opened is part n parcel of this type of thing.
It's going to come back to haunt them again in January when the CR runs out- and if they have NOT done their part- (this shut down will be considered the second longest shutdown in history.)
American's don't give a fuck who fixes the subsidies- but when the DEMs have stood up for Joe America- and the GOPs are still working on a concept- the end will be that regular ppl in the world are fucked out of healthcare they can afford. Sadly- it's because fearmongers like the REDHATS are saying it's all going to illegals- when that isn't the case or proven; All government programs are rife with fraud- by the nature of the beast, but tossing babies out with bathwater to have a political win is what this current administration is all about doing. I've never seen such a destructive piece of shit doing any damage they can; whenever they can. pathetic.
It appears that Mr. Gristle is (predictably) incapable of answering the question(s) I posed to him in my post #134. Wanna give it a shot?
Thanks in advance!

Can you spell H-Y-P-O-C-R-I-T-E?
Does this fool not know his past statements are forever recorded on video?
Now pray tell, Mr. Gristle, was Chucky Schumer right in 2013 & 2019? And wrong in 2025?
Or was he right in 2025? And wrong in 2013/2019?
Or... are you a moral relativist? Does something that was wrong when the GOP did it suddenly become right when the Dems do it?
The lunatic Left is trying to take out Fetterman after he voted to end the shutdown!!!!!!
BREAKING: Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., was hospitalized on Thursday after he fell near his home in Pennsylvania, a spokesperson for the senator said.
"During an early morning walk, Senator Fetterman sustained a fall near his home in Braddock. Out of an abundance of caution, he was transported to a hospital in Pittsburgh," the spokesperson said. "Upon evaluation, it was established he had a ventricular fibrillation flare-up that led to Senator Fetterman feeling light-headed, falling to the ground and hitting his face with minor injuries."
The spokesperson added that Fetterman is currently "doing well and receiving routine observation at the hospital."

BAHAHAHA
What isn't a conspiracy in your mind. Jeezus- everything is nefarious and conteptuous- which is more telling about you than the reality of things. John F., whom I found to be actually a lot more agreeable in his later interviews- (saw him on Laura Trump) seemed to be less about kissing rings, but also more about doing the right thing for the public and didn't agree with any shutdowns.
My feeling is that it's likely a mindset that would have worked in the past where you could trust the people across the aisle to be of their word, and not just about tribal politics- BUT....that's not the case today. You cannot trust either side- but I find it increasingly hard to trust RedHats due to them standing beside the outright lies that stream from the Whitehouse. As far as Fetterman's fall, it was likely due to him actually wearing a suit the other day vs. his Bill Belichick look of a hoody and shorts. Likely damaged his Herman Munster head a little with the tight tie- and subsequent blood flow issues. They are saying it's A-fib, or the like---but in reality- he likely caught a wiff off Trumps diaper upon return the whitehouse.

Demonization 101- always blame the other side. What's more stupid in the comments is the " not gonna pay my bills". I find that to be absolutely ridiculous since congress still gets it's money and most of those affected by the shutdown will be made whole (not 100% on hourly contractors, but likely them also)
What's not surprising to me out of either of the quotes- is that one thing is common and also more prevalent. Why do both sides need a shutdown to make a point, or to get to a discussion. I know that you and a few on the board think they need to cut out all of DC and the agencies, but if this taught you nothing more than this- there are real impacts for removing actions and offices- IE ATC, SNAP and other things like paying military etc.
there isn't much leverage for the party that is Not in majority these days so I'm neither shocked or impressed by any shut downs. The duration is stupid and the fact that tribal politics- MOSTLY now by definition of MAGA- aka REDHATs is so entrenched. Its like there isn't any other way than Trump- and the guy is a fucking train wreck of a POTUS>
So to that end, hostages are what made the GOP agree to atleast a vote on ACA subsidies. NOT what I would have stopped it for- but rather a guarantee of another 12 months minimum. The power of waiting it out- means you got to have the balls and stamina to do exactly that. Chas Schumer has neither the balls or the stamina or the guts to do that. AND - he should have told the GOP to go fuck themselves if he really wanted to escallate power. He won't get re-elected anyway- but by throwing himself on the sword would have been a good way to go out as a political martyr.
I really don't have a problem with the 10k bonuses. I have a problem with Sean Duffy pretending that shutting down air traffic under the guise of safety vs politics. And everyone else should do too. That's just absolutely a loss of all ethics when you bow to a political whim under a falsity of safety. 10k now makes it safer???
Nah. We all know it doesn't. It's inversely related just like a line worker who makes 4x the base rate when they are on storm duty working overtime ,vs being safe at the same base rate. The safety is the same...the money isn't
So myopic and short-sighted of Stephen Miller to say that. Democrats just ensured a blue wave in the midterms next year. The MAGA party will soon be over. Much like Stephen's hair, MAGA is circling the drain.
Stephen Miller claimed a victory on Nov 4th, while the DEMS cleaned up. His comments about any of the outcomes are about as important as a cloudy day. I think the Dems should concede that the juice they got wasn't worth the squeeze in this shutdown. BUT- I think it does set a precedent for the upcoming Jan CR. and possibility of the Govment running out of money yet again. It will require some pre- planning from the GOP on either a concept of a plan, or just acknowledgement that they got nothing for the US citizens when it comes to health.
The Potus has been too busy with ballroom planning, MarALagoon parties and all that for ONE iota of ACA funding or alternatives. Why? The MAGA's just don't give a shit about this- and want to see ACA fail due to a lack of participation vs. actual outcomes. In the end- they don't care about healthcare, food, jobs, consumer protection, education or the environment.
They are all about Greed, and when the midterms arrive, they will reap what they have sown.

Now he's just a washed up coffee boy mouth piece.
Sheesh... I was going to give you kudos for at least trying to answer my question, unlike Gristle. Problem is - you didn't answer it. You quoted my post #153 and edited out the question. Was that an accident or intentional?
Do you want to try again? Spare us the rant, just address the actual question. Choose among the following:
1. Was Schumer RIGHT to condemn the Republican shutdowns back in 2013 and 2019 and WRONG to have initiated (via Senate filibuster) the Democrat shutdown in 2025?
2. Or - was he WRONG to condemn the 2013/2019 shutdowns and RIGHT to have resorted to the same tactic in 2025?
3. Or - was he RIGHT IN BOTH INSTANCES, since you believe something that is wrong when the GOP does it suddenly becomes right and defensible when the Dems do it?

No, eye. It would be highly irresponsible and UNethical for Sean Duffy NOT to reduce the number of flights, given the FAA data he was looking at. Do you have your own data showing otherwise? If so, please share.
I already scolded & corrected you once in this thread for making the outrageous claim that he was motivated by politics (see below). Not only is the accusation despicable, it's also illogical. If most of the public blames Republicans for the shutdown (as Gristle keeps claiming), then it would make no sense for Duffy to unnecessarily worsen the pain and thereby deepen public resentment against the GOP.

He said the number of air traffic controllers quitting their jobs each week has quadrupled as a result of the Schumer shutdown. The ones still working (with reduced staffs) are highly stressed and fatigued. As a result, the number of "incursions" - i.e. flights temporarily straying out of their assigned paths, but not by enough to be counted as a "near miss" - has skyrocketed. This means the risk of collisions is way up. Under the circumstances, the only responsible thing to do is reduce the number of scheduled flights.
It's despicable and wrong to say Sean Duffy was motivated by politics rather than his duty to protect the flying public. If he did nothing and planes started crashing, he is the first person Dems would blame.
His predecessor, Pothole Pete, wanted to spend billions on DEI instead of upgrading our nation's outdated air traffic control infrastructure. Thank God that incompetent bozo isn't calling the shots at DoT during the Schumer shutdown!
Speaker Johnson SHUTS DOWN Democrats’ Push to Extend Obamacare Subsidies
Speaker Mike Johnson just confirmed he will NOT allow a House vote to extend the failed Obamacare subsidies that hand billions to Big Insurance. Johnson said the Democrats destroyed the healthcare system, driving premiums higher while subsidizing insurance companies and even wealthy people. He warned any extension would require massive reforms and strict income caps, and blasted Democrats for wasting months with political stunts that stalled real negotiations. Republicans are standing firm — Democrats just got NOTHING.
