I mean...let's be honest, Trump has probably wished the same and worst. That's where our politics are now. Horrible people getting elected because people lack true values beyond "fuck the other side"

Why?

I understand the turnout in New York, NJ, VA and CA, but even here in Austin, where ballot propositions are by and large stupid and meaningless proposals by Abbott's sycophantic legislature. I stood in line for this!

Perhaps the answer is because PEOPLE are PISSED. Exit polls confirm this. Nobody's had a chance to weigh in on the policies that are now causing Americans real pain... those who have have been beaten down by Trump's secret police, harassed, sued, deported...

Today, people are voting because they still can.
I agree with the central premise of the OP

People are fed up with governmental disfunction however they perceive it. They are fed up with other things too, but lets focus on this one thing just now.

One can go back as far as one wishes in the 21st Century, further if one is older. The Gulf War(s) we ill advised as was" leading from behind" during the Arab Spring. It is my belief that the whole Covid thing was mishandled by everyone from start to finish. We could go on . . .lets not.

The point made in the quote above is that here is voter frustration with about any of the national policy makers we have had in the past twenty five years or so. This frustration is more deeply rooted the older the voter is.

This general frustration, whichever way one is looking at things, is what is driving the voter turn out in this election cycle. If or whenever it comes to no-one voting because they have given up . . .THEN the country will become politically terminal.

Democrats are the angriest and most intolerable people on the planet.

It’s tough being wrong all the time.

Congratulations. Yall were able to hang on to your already blue states and cities.

Except I did not, but don’t let truth get in the way of your party’s support for wanna-be ***** killers.

Pure projection and wishful thinking. There’s only one group that currently tolerates, even celebrates, violence against their political adversaries.

I agree that it’s the Republicans with all their hate speech.

Fantasize all you want, it doesn’t change the fact your party just put a guy in office who wants to kill his opponent and his opponent’s entire family.

"I hate my opponents..."

Who said that at a funeral lately?

Same guy behind your misery, that's who.

With solid increases over 2024's election results in even the reddest of counties.

The handwriting is on the wall.

Wanting your opponent and his family dead seems a tad more extreme than hating him.

You've got to give AG candidate Jay Jones credit though for a unique sense of humor. Texting about Virginia ex-Republican House Speaker Todd Gilbert and his wife, he said, "I mean do I think Todd and Jennifer are evil? And that they're breeding little fascists? Yes." He really needs to get his priorities straight though. He said if he had a gun, two bullets, and the choice to shoot Adolph Hitler, Pol Pot, and Todd Gilbert, he'd shoot Gilbert twice.

Let's review some numbers, shall we? (Not counting the newly elected)

New Jersey Governors since 2002
Democrat: 4 governors serving total of 5 terms
Republican: 1 governor serving total of 2 terms
Notables: Not counting 1 Dem gov that served 3 days. Phil Murphy promised to raise taxes for his 2nd term and did.

New York City Mayors since 1946
Democrat: 9 Mayors serving total of 15 terms
Republican: 3 Mayors serving total of 4 terms
Notables: Michael Bloomberg served 1st term as Republican, 2nd as Independent. Apparently nobody wanted to claim the runt for his 2nd term. There was John Lindsey who served 1 term as Republican and 1 as Democrat.

Virginia Governors since 1874
Democrat: 31 Governors serving a total of 31 terms
Republican: 7 Governors serving a total of 7 terms
Notables: Youngkin (R) was a RINO deluxe

NQNS. Eh Comrade?

When Texas does it there is no public input at all. When California does it they put it to a public referendum.

Not only did they elect him but he won by six points.

That should tell us all that the anger over Trump’s actions are real.

and why was this referendum needed except to grab 5 D seats in the House? the so-called demographics and re-mapping reasons look quite suspect.
