Default Supreme Court tariff hearing Wednesday

This should be interesting.

Tariffs are supposed to be decided by Congress. The President has no authority to unilaterally
impose tariffs. What will Trump's defense team come up with ?

The Senate seems to have really hurt his case in the most recent vote where they declared there was no emergency and rejected the Canadian tariffs. At least if the tariffs fall away, the economy may yet be saved from the continuous downturn.

So the power to levy tariffs lies with the legislative branch not the Executive branch of governmen . . . .this should be a slam-dunk against the tariffs then.

Let’s hope Trumps cheerleading squad takes the time to read the constitution.

He was going to attend the hearings. Now he changed his mind. Finally, a good decision.

his lawyers did, especially the part where Congress granted the executive branch Tariff powers. you did read about that yes???

Yes, Congress has granted the executive branch limited tariff powers, primarily through legislation like the Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) and Trade Act of 1974
. While the Constitution gives Congress the power to regulate commerce and set tariffs, Congress has periodically delegated authority to the President to negotiate trade deals and make adjustments to tariff rates. These powers are not absolute and are subject to various legal constraints and congressional oversight, including recent attempts to revoke some of the President's authority.
  • Original constitutional power: The U.S. Constitution (Article I, Section 8) grants Congress the power to lay and collect duties and to regulate foreign commerce.
  • Delegation of power: Since the 1930s, Congress has passed laws to give the President authority to act on tariffs.
    • Trade Promotion Authority (TPA): This allows the President to negotiate trade agreements and make limited changes to tariff rates.
    • Trade Act of 1974: This act gives the President tools to impose tariffs under specific circumstances, such as Section 201 tariffs to address serious injury to a domestic industry from imports, or Section 301 tariffs in response to a country's unfair trade practices.

I'll keep it nice and simple. Where do you read "My pussy got hurt because Canada ran an ad I don't like so I'm raising tariffs".??? The orange cunt's feelings do NOT amount to a "serious injury to a domestic industry" or "unfair trade practices".

I call it a hijack.

It must sting a little to have Reagan’s words prove your entire movement to be a fraud.

I am reminded once again of our forum rules and will honor them.

You should do same.

Congress had nothing to do with Trump’s personal fuckery. N had he asked them, they might have, but it would have been their call, not the Scheissfuhrer’s.

Baaah baaah MAGA sheep, have you any wool? No sir no sir, just this bull .. but it’s the greatest bullshit ever created…

The decision will be made shortly.
Trump has no authority to enact the tariffs he has been doing.
President Reagan was for free trade, and against tariffs unless a special circumstance arised.
