Yes obviously.

3.8% Q2 growth
Stock market at all time high
Low unemployment
Low inflation

Tariffs ruined the economy! Lmao.

You must mean Reddit and Bluesky as far as the “right place”

I don't know why you're focused so heavily on Q2 when he paused most implementation for 90 days in his failed 90 deals in 90 days bid. When did that happen?

What quarter would you expect those to really start to hit in? It wouldn't be Q2, right?

You do recall when companies started frontloading inventory, right? And what happened at the ports in Q2?

When imports drop, doesn't that help make GDP look rosier? It does. Look at the bigger picture.

Forget the nuance and the wishes.

The macro economic performance isn’t validating that the fantasy come true.

Another data point, if the Fed was concerned about tariff inflation they wouldn’t have just decreased by 25 basis points with a handful more on their dot plot.

The same song and dance has been on repeat in this thread for months.

We covered this awhile back. The Fed's tools can tackle employment or inflation. They chose employment and are temporarily accepting higher inflation. That doesn't mean they're not worried about inflation.

That’s because anyone with a clue knows that our economy runs on consumption and not production. If people don’t have salaries they can’t buy goods and services.

Riddle me this.

If tariffs are so bad why have other countries tariffed US goods for decades and continue to do so?

A multitude of reasons that aren't really material here. Neither I nor Tx took the position that all tariffs are bad so we can skip the preamble.

I'm for free trade but ok with smart, targeted tariffs. Scalpel over machete. This isn't that.

It’s very material.

The leftist opinion is everything Trump does is bad. But the question cannot be answered without exposing the hypocrisy of the argument.

Tariffs can’t be good for just other countries and bad for the US.

Not interested in the off-topic bait

This is an example of the targeted tariff. It's one within his authority after a study, as per law.

https://www.tipranks.com/news/cataly...-manufacturers

The unspoken piece is that Trump has increased the cost of manufacturing for the companies he's hoping to protect. Which, here in PA and elsewhere, led to layoffs.

If we take out some of his broad "reciprocal" tariffs this one might make sense. But as it sits, as with farmers, he's going to have to chase a fix for a problem he created with his Tantrum day tariffs.

If you feel I'm saying he can't win, that's because he gets in his own way. If the Supremes rule as they should, and knock down the illegal tariffs they'll actually do him a favor
