This is an interesting point and has me rethinking, A LITTLE, my opinion. Yes, sexual reassignment surgery and hormone treatment have become much more common through the years. The overall percentage of the adult population identifying as Trans is 1%. But the percentage of adults 24 and under is 3%, meaning it's much more prevalent among younger people.
The figures that several posters, including me, have cited, showing trans shooters as a % of total shooters uses a number for "total shooters" spanning decades. But there's no indication I can find for any transgender shooter prior to 2018. So, in other words, if you just consider more recent history, we're understating the trans shooters as a percentage of the total number of mass shooters.
Here's a list of trans shooters who killed four or more people in one incident:
Snochia Mosely, 2018, transitioned from male to female and took hormones
Maya "Alec" McKinney, 2019, female who identified as male. No evidence he took hormones.
Audrey Hale, 2023, female who identified as male. No evidence he took hormones.
Robin Westman, 2025, male at birth who apparently identified as female or male depending on his mood. I doubt he (or she?) took hormones. Quote: "I don’t want to dress girly all the time but I guess sometimes I really like it. I know I am not a woman but I definitely don’t feel like a man."
I don't believe there are any others. If you're aware of any more that haven't already been debunked, a heads up would be appreciated.
Anyway, you have a total of four mass shooters who were transgender, if you count Westman, who killed people during a period from 2018 to 2025. During this period, about 235 mass shootings occurred -- see the graph towards the end of this web page,
https://projects.apnews.com/features...ngs/index.html
So 4/235, or 1.7% of mass shootings between 2018 and August, 2025 were committed by transgenders.
It may be reasonable to reduce the 235 total in the denominator by the number of mass shootings related to organized crime and gangs. From what I can tell, that's approximately 25%. Do that and you have 4 out of 176 non-gang-related mass shootings perpetrated by transgenders, or 2.3%. And 2.3% is a lot higher than the figures some other posters and I quoted. And higher than the percentage of transgenders in the total population, which is 1%.
HOWEVER, the shooters were young adults. And the 2.3% is less than the 3% of young adults who identify as trans.
It's interesting that we only know one of the four shooters was on hormones. Also, two of the four shooters were females who identified as males. If they actually were on hormones (testosterone) maybe that would partly explain their violent behavior.
Or maybe this is the reaction of a repressed minority. A buddy of mine I worked with, an Aggie, used to go the the Montrose area of Houston with his friends in a van. They'd pick up transvestites and obvious homosexuals, rough them up a little, and then kick them out of the van. Typical Aggie behavior. As I mentioned, my cousin's transgender daughter gets verbally abused all the time. Did anybody see the old PBS series, the Naked Civil Servant, a retelling of the life of Quentin Crisp, England's flamboyant transvestite and self-proclaimed "Grand Old Queer"? He got beaten up all the time. Anyway, you fuck people over enough, and some fight back. I don't know enough about the shootings to know if this was a factor, but it makes a lot more sense to me than the explanation that all transgenders are mentally ill and thus can't be trusted with guns.
