				The Republican Party Has Changed

The Republican Party of 2025 is not what we remember from the post-Reagan years. This is no longer the party ocf congeal, good-sport losers that brought us Bill Clinton, and Barak (Humane) Obama. This is not the Party that lead the Nation into two forever wars that rival the Viet Nam quagmire. The Iraq fiasco was predicated on a lie as egregious as the Tonkin Gulf lie of Lindon Johnson.

This is no longer the party that gave us the placid congeniel go-along-to get-along country club crowd in the mold of Mitt Romney, Hohn McCain and Bob Dole.

The Republican Party of President Trump is aggressively active on all policy fronts and refuses to be stymied by what the other side says in public snd private. Every cabinet secretary is a non-political professional in their field of responsibility, not someone whose time has come for the honor of their office. Every member of the administration is empowered and prepared to vigorously confronting congressional committee members with facts in hearing sessions.

This is a party that is fully committed to our tradition of democratic primary elections . . .unlike the stem-rolling, string pulling power brokers s of the progressive left who simple set aside Hillary Clinton and foisted Joe Bidenon the party over Berney Saunders . . .only to dump Biden for Harris . . .all done behind the scenes.

This is a party that embraces the democratic principles of our traditional primary system . . .
This is a party that embraces the aspirations of working voters, regardless of race or ethnicity, who want a "normal" life for their young children, free of drag queen story time and trans gender athletics. This is a party that respects the American tradition of immigration within the structure of our laws. This is a party that puts the future of American in the forefront of policy decisions.

Tis is not the Republican Party of th past.

The Republican party under Trump and MAGA has not gotten better it’s just gotten more partisan. You have half the country who would walk on by if Trump fell and broke a hip. Some would think about kicking him when he was down.

I’m not a Bush fan and I opposed the regime change in Iraq. But I remember that the country pulled together under Bush to support our military and our country after 9/11. I’m not sure if Trump has the ability to do the same.

Trump and MAGA have just made things horribly worse.

The one good change in the Republican Party is that it no longer supports neoconservatism. And its support for deregulation is stronger. Otherwise the changes are mostly negative -- tariffs, mass deportations, extreme social conservatism, and supporting the overthrow of a popularly elected U.S. president (Joe Biden) for example.

Don’t forget how accepting the Republican Party is of racism. But I guess that’s not a change if you go back to the late 60s early 70s. From that time acceptance of its racist faction and members is the norm.

As the old saying goes “not all republicans are racist, but nearly all racists are republicans”.

.... Hmmmm... Sounds as-if you're disappointed there, mate.

Seeing-as the Democrat party surely had the inside track
all thru the 1920s and onward with their Great Support
of the KKK and what-not. ... You seem to have forgotten that.

And NOW - we're seeing the Republican party GROWING with
Black voter support - yer view seems rather short-sighted.

I wasn’t alive in the 20s. I am alive now and racists love the current Republican Party. So much so that it’s their party of choice. I’m not sure my view is shortsighted at all. I guess well see what the percent of black votes for republicans will be in 26 and 28. May be less than you think it’ll be.

In m y view, the policy decision of this administration have reversed much of the disfunction of the Biden presidency; and ,immigration, regulation, Trans gender based disruptions, civil disorder bnorderingh on civil war, there is a lot there. The 2nd Trump administration is attempting to address the excess deficit spending of previous administrstions on both sides going back to the 1980s and President Reagan as well.

Racism? There are bad actors across the spectrum of society, but the current make ump of President Trump's cabinet is as diverse as any we have seen in this century and the last. The administration below cabinet level is even more diverse even though it is merit based and not driven by DEI.

On the other hand, the Democratic Party . . .well there is a whole other thread on the changes in the Democratic Party. This thread is about Republicans.

			Is it the Republican party?

Or has the name been stolen by a special interest group that will be gone in a few years?

In the 1920s and "30s, the Democrat party supported the KKK. There are photos of The Clan openly parting through Washington DC, robed and armed. t?his support continued into the post WW-II yers with Senator Byrd (Dem West Virginia) being a high ranking official in The Clan . . .among other Democratic law makers and local political figures.

It took President Johnson to drag the Democrats out of their post-Civil War resistance in the 1960s with the civil rights legislation . . .and hd to get Republicans to come over to get those laws passed.

Yet current racists love today’s Republican Party. This thread is about the republicans party not democrats so stay on topic.

The modern Republican Party - I’ll say from Reagan on, though it’s pretty clear that Nixon first implemented the embrace racists strategy. The racists today join the Republican Party.

I’ll stick to my statement, not all republicans are racists but almost all racists are republicans. There’s a reason for that and it’s because they are embraced in the Republican Party.

How many blacks are in Trump’s cabinet?

... I just know where President Trump's support was
with the last election - HIGHER than most anyone EVER
thought it would be... And it's still high.

However, I do agree that we'll need to see - as support
can surely ebb and flow... As the next two elections
are a way off.
(Crikey - I even gave you a "like" for yer comments)
