It all starts with poor reading comprehension skill and preference to skip over content that doesn't give with the message one wants to hear and further broadcast. The highlighted sentence clearly says detection AND differentiation. The word differentiation is being ignored by the original poster and some subsequent posters. The test referenced tests for both covid and certain influenza viruses at the same time and reports as a positive or negative result for each of the viruses tested for SPECIFIC to the result for each virus in the test panel. This allows a patient to be tested for multiple virus with one nasal swab (if deemed appropriate by the ordering healthcare provider), as opposed to being stabbed multiple times.

This is not at all unusual in laboratory medicine. An example relevant to this board and the porn industry is STD panels. One swab yields highly reliable and specific results (at that point in time) for multiple dreaded diseases through PCR. That is technology at work...real Tech...not High Tech...don't obfuscate the terms.

Threshold Cycles used to determine at what point a detection is deemed "positive" for covid virus or any other pathogen assayed is an entirely different subject best left to knowledgeable molecular pathologists. It's a trade off between sensitivity and clinical relevance, not necessarily false positive as you present.

Some drug is being advertised on TV as "eliminating/curing/purging" HIV. Fine print defines as undetectable by standard laboratory tests. Even so, no way I'm dipping my wick, covered or not, in that honey pot.

Here you go OEB. Details about the combo Covid, Influenza and RSV PCR Combo test offered by Labcorp (one of the large nationals). If you kindly scroll down to view a sample report, you will find that the results for each test are reported discreetly. Not sure how to post a pdf, but I'm pretty sure you can point and click without too much inconvenience. Pretty much all PCR labs offer panels from one specimen, depending on symptomology...it benefits them financially.

R - anything on TV' - as you describe 'advertised' - is doubtless a scam. we do not have technology to eliminate/cure//purge HIV - or Wuhan virus.
