With 220,000 deaths on 20% of the USA population being infected so far, the survival rate is not 99.98%. If 70% of the USA population gets infected you will have over a 1 million deaths. To reach HERD immunity without a vaccine a too many people would end up dying.

the data we have so far isn't complete, and the positive vs dead rate isn't based off a properly representative cross-section of the population, especially with a virus that has such a high visibly asymptomatic probability based on the current data.

Basically a lot of it is still guessing.

My personal position is that we don't tell people what to do, let people decided what to do on their own property, and advise people who have compromised immune systems or those that simply fear catching it to stay cloistered. Those that want to go back to normal and accept the risk can do so.

Partial lock down with masks, social distancing, etc until the Regeneron(the cocktail of antibodies that Trump got) and vaccine is ready distribution. Remdisvir( Trump got this as well) has been approved by the FDA and is being used by the doctors for extreme cases. Remdisvir is not a cure though. Need the Regerneron and the vaccine before you can open things back up.
