loud child in restraunt
so you are eating at a nice restaurant
at the next table 3 feet from you, is a baby crying
and it WONT STOP
the parents try to get it to be quiet, but it won't
the manager finally comes over, tells the family they gotta go
gives them gifts cards ($20) and asks them to finish up
is that discrimination or is the manager simply looking for other all the other guests to have a good time cause if your child wont shut up, you shouldnt take him out!

This is a quote from the article you listed. A Maryland woman was given restaurant credit after she and her family were asked to leave an Outback Steakhouse restaurant by a manager who said her son with special needs was the subject of a noise complaint.
In a post on social media detailing the incident, Amanda Braun said she's not likely to use the credit.
Braun and her family were told they needed to "finish (their) meals and leave" about five minutes after their food arrived at the table, she said in a Facebook post.
Braun's 4-year-old son, Killian, was born with a neurological disorder called childhood apraxia of speech. According to the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, a child with apraxia of speech knows what he or she wants to say, but signals from the brain controlling muscles for speech aren't relayed correctly. Timmy, you have turned this into fake news. A four year child is not a baby, as you stated: you lied when you told us what the article said. You don't like being causht in an intentionally false statement, too bad: don't do it.
Have a little understanding of what the family is going through: it could have been you who was born with a neurological disorder.

"A four year child is not a baby". Certainly not an infant but to a great number of people an 18 year old is a baby!!! Hell, in my world a 30 year old is a "kid".
When my (45 yo) son was about 35 or so, I called him a kid. He objected. I told him to "hold that thought" for the next 35 years and check his attitude towards his own kids. He got the clue.
In dealing with the ages of some of the women in this hobby I have been ridiculed often toward my attitude. I will tell them the same thing . . . "hold that thought" see how it changes as you get older.

Having worked in the Restaurant industry for 20 years I have never had a situation like this occur.
Yes a baby or child with disabilities, yes not maintaining the unwritten "noise code".But as I have noticed..how could I not. The regard , empathy and compassion for other humans..both children & adults has tremendously diminished. We are in a time of ME ME ME.
What the manager should have done was, if possible, relocated either the " disturbed" patrons or the family .
OR have given the disturbed patrons a 20 $ gift card.
That family..just guessing probably doesn't get many opportunities to eat out and how is he supposed to become adjusted to those situations if they are treated with such blatant disregard.
Just a few thoughts on the matter.

Savannah's correct, there's other options always available and probably more appropriate.

Wow, no thoughts of others. You also just ignored being called out for fake news. You changed the news story, and you don't get it.
I have disagreeded about some things with Savannah at times. But she understands compassion. Have some respect for other's needs. Every family, could have difficulties. Understand that.
I got spit on at the LA airport returning from Nam by some women who didn't understand what all of the military had scarificed. It is OK to understang ignorance, and work around it.

There is a HUGE difference between NEEDS & DESIRES. Again another huge problem that we are contending with in this day and age. Deciphering the difference.
If you require silence while eating... Take out is a great option. So is eating at home. I have never encountered staff that would have handled that situation in that manner..EVER. That speaks volumes for the Professionalism of the Management & Establishments I have worked for. JS

whatever was changed did not really effect the story
child/baby, makes no difference
the child has something wrong with it,...so???
If it were a movie theaer and a baby/child were screaming, is that ok? EVER?
if it was a wedding and a baby/child was screaming, is that ok? oh it has a disorder??!! so that makes it ok?
everyone is too entitled..... there are RIGHT and WRONGs
the parents should have realized they were causing a huge disruption to everyone else and taken the kid out of earshot till the child/baby settled down
or just left
People go out to eat NOT to have to up with someone else's child being loud
whether the child/baby has a disability makes NO difference
I understand and I'm sure many people understand how difficult that family has it with that child/baby,, so fucking what?
I"m blind, so when I drive my car, i might hit yuo...
UNDERSTAND ME!!!
right?
there was NO discrimination because the screaming child/baby has some conditiion,
the parents should have left and not annoy the fyck out of everyone else
no one goes to spend money at a restaurant should have to deal anything of that sort

It's not like Outback is a fine dining establishment. It's a family chain restaurant. I can't imagine complaining about a loud child in a place like that.
If it was an expensive high end place where it really isn't appropriate to bring kids? Maybe... A movie theater at anytime besides a g/PG rated movie (especially at a matinee). Probably.
If you don't want screaming babies and loud families, then don't go to a family restaurant.
The manager should have comped the complainers' meal and not said a darn thing to the kid's family.

why?
just looking at the money, you have a 5-10 tables being annoyed by the loud kid and 1 family that is CAUSING the disruption
why would you let the disruption stay?
why would you stay if your child is causing a loud disruption?
again, if you went to a movie theatr and your child was causing a loud disruption, you would expect the parent to take the child OUT of the theatre, not that everyone else should leave
