Exactly! When the Bambino hit 60hrs and led the league they didn't give the HR title to Jimmy Foxx because he hit more HRs per capita!

It is obvious from post #4 that Bambino was referring to Chicago when he was referring to "the murder capital of the U.S.". And if you look at murder rates by state, Louisiana is far and away the leader in murders per capita. Illinois ranks 14th.

So maybe you should stick to economic problems in Illinois rather than try to expand it to include gun violence which, while bad, is not as bad as many other states.

The stats have to be examined from the standpoint of "manner of death" as well as "cause of death" as determined by autopsies ... and as I mentioned EMS/medical response times and availability of adequate trauma centers.

I'm very happy in the Austin area, thank you very much. Very few ignorant redneck hillbillies parading around in their stetson hats. And my bicycle pants do look pretty good on my ass. Sorry they don't make them in XXXXXXXXL so you could fit into them. Of course, the only exercise you get is pounding the keyboard as it sits on your stomach.
