A couple in our clan went to the ball. They weren't impressed. Big complaint I heard was no seating if you weren't VIP(extra $95).
Sounded like the entertainment was decent but we had our own entertainment at camp and didn't cost nearly as much.

I have to agree with the noticeable lack of seating in the main ballroom (lots of people just plunked down on the floor), and question the excessive extra cost of the Golden Ticket/VIP. The VIP lounge was roomy, ample tables, chairs, and private alcoves, servers coming around with trays of appetizers, a small stage with additional entertainment, but not sure it would be worth that additional $95 unless you were pretty focused on your date (he was) and not that interested in what was happening in the big room, and there was a whole pageant going on there, multi-level stage and dance floor, gymnastic performes descending from the ceiling at times. I was unimpressed with the "coed" restrooms; they were portable buildings fully plumbed but cramped (not quite as bad as a commercial airplane facility, but almost), and there was a short bank of steps to be ascended, rather an unwieldy challenge for the ladies wearing fluffy dresses with trains or hoops. I had to help a few up and down the stairs. Seems like an important point at a costumed event to overlook.

TRF needs to reevaluate the venue to make it more comfortable and worth the prices they charge. It's the first year, so they have some bugs to work out.

I absolutely love the Ren Faire. I picked up an RV this summer and took it which was so much better than a tent. I wish I knew about that bondage camp! And yes, the topless bonfire/drum circle is a blast.
