Ms.Tiffany,

Here's something specially for you!! Watch the Youtube clip please!!

http://www.ndtv.com/article/offbeat/...31616?ndtv_rhs

If it is not invading your privacy, what types of tomatoes are your favorites? Cherry, slicers? Heirlooms? Any particular varieties?

What tastes appeal to you? Tangy, tangy-sweet, aromatic, or the juicy beefsteak slice on a big sandwich or burger?

Some like the slightly unusual taste of the black tomatoes, some like the ones like Cherokee Purple types, others love the yellow-orange sweet-tart types like Kellogg's Breakfast or Yellow Brandywine, or the sweeter pinks like German Strawvberry, the Oxhearts, or the reds that come in so many shapes, sizes and flavors. Then there are the greens and the cherry tomatoes like the Sungold and the true little currant tomatoes that are a slightly different species altogether with more intense flavors. I get all excited thinking about them, looking through the catalogs and reading these charming works of fiction that are the products of amazing creativity!! Cheers one up, all these fabulous pictures where never a bug or chipmunk ever dares to torment a tomato plant!

I have a friend in Buffalo who grows more than 700, [yes, seven hundred varieties, give or take a couple hundred in any year] in his little back lot. You can easily find out who he is from the Cornell Cooperative Extension at Buffalo!! A nicely crazy, wonderful person who is glad to share some of his own varieties with you. He writes in Garden Web and similar sites.

Hey PM,

I don’t know if you’re just kidding about the Fifth Dimension, but if you or others here really like that music you should check out Laura Nyro. Laura Nyro didn't write "Up, Up and Away" (that was a Jimmy Webb song) but, in my opinion, she's definately worth a listen.

Just a brief history courtesy of Wiki – (I’m too lazy to write it myself! I did fix some of it though due to inaccuracies.):

Laura Nyro (October 18, 1947 – April 8, 1997) was an American songwriter, singer, and pianist. She achieved critical acclaim with her own recordings, particularly the albums Eli and the Thirteenth Confession (1968) and New York Tendaberry (1969), and had commercial success with artists such as Barbra Streisand and The 5th Dimension recording her songs. Her style was a hybrid of Brill Building-style New York pop, jazz, gospel, rhythm and blues, show tunes, rock, and soul.

Between 1968 and 1970, a number of artists had hits with her songs: The 5th Dimension with "Blowing Away", “Time and Love”, "Wedding Bell Blues", "Stoned Soul Picnic", "Sweet Blindness", and "Save the Country”; Blood, Sweat & Tears and Peter, Paul & Mary with "And When I Die"; Three Dog Night and Maynard Ferguson with "Eli's Comin'"; and Barbra Streisand with "Stoney End". [Wikipedia]

In 2012, Nyro was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Her recordings, as solid as they were, came to resemble demos for other performers. I could never understand why. Was it because she was reportedly uncomfortable with attempts to market her as a celebrity? Or could it be she wasn’t good looking enough and/or didn’t have a world-class voice?

The depth and sophistication of her performances and arrangements which merged pop structure with inspired imagery and avant-garde jazz is readily apparent.

It’s interesting to listen to the original recordings by Nyro herself and compare them to the slick, highly polished commercial releases by Three Dog Night, BS&T, The Fifth Dimension and Barbra Streisand. There we can see how Nyro’s original recordings morphed into what most of us are familiar with: “And When I Die”, “Wedding Bell Blues”, “Stoney End”, “Eli’s Comin’”, etc.

In late 1996, Nyro, like her mother before her, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She died of ovarian cancer in Danbury, Connecticut, on April 8, 1997, at 49, the same age at which the disease had claimed the life of her mother.

The YouTube segment is for anyone that might enjoy her music. She composed this song when she was still in high school!

You are right, this is a happy thread. I apologize to Miss Tiffany Blue. But when I saw that comment about the hot air balloon crash and it being funny, I couldn't help myself but comment. I need to do myself a favor and stay of the boards. Carry On.......
