Jerez give the OP a break, he did nothing out if the ordinary. I've been asked to send references with first contact and many providers list this on their profile. By sending his info on first contact he was being respectful of said providers comfort level and personal security.
If he was interested enough to go through the process. Then he most likely would consider an appointment at a future time. It's nice to have the option of a short notice appointment and getting the referenced out of the way in advance makes this possible.
I appreciate the OP for sharing his experience and many would not have known to avoid the entitled rip off artist he encountered had he not posted this thread. I do agree he probably should have let it go a few pages ago.
