The first "real book" I ever read was when I was 12. It was Kaffir Boy by Mark Mathabane. An autobiography detailing what it was like growing up under apartheid in South Africa in the 60s & 70s. I couldn't put it down. I read 250+ pages before I went to bed that night. I wish I could remember who told me to read it. I would absolutely thank them today!
I don't remember Nelson Mandela being mentioned by name in the book (although I can imagine he was), but when I later read about him in college I had an immediate and sincere respect for what he had been able to accomplish because of the book I read years before by a man who was able to reach his potential as human being, despite the complexion of his pigment.

Wow the guy literally had thousands of innocent people killed, women and children, black and white with terroristic acts and he is a hero. What makes him different from Osama bin Laden?
In his presidency , he made reverse discrimination laws, that make it illegal to hire a white males over any black person. Brings sides together, so little facts, so much Hollywood.
