I think wakeup needs to enroll for some PTSD therapy, the sooner the better.
Somewhere behind the wakeup board persona is a person dying to be loved.

There are more nuances than that, such as the limited bandwidth/accuracy of text-only communication and the there being degrees of fuckwadery that are not isolated to a single individual. But that's the heart of the matter, it seems.
