Perhaps you could explain to me then, why there are poor families who take care of their kids, and they are not starving, yet there are sooo many sad cases where they really are very neglected and hungry, despite all the opportunities for assistance? My previous post may have sounded like a blanket statement, and that would be wrong. But I stand by my statement because their are so many cases of parents who piss what they have away at the expense of their kids. Believe me, I don't have to make "shit " up. What I see has also been well documented by the local school teachers, particularly at the elementary level, who deal with these cases all the time. They are truly, saints.

With all the lights on, who isn't a hypocrit? There's a lot of shit to work out.
I have so little faith in the United States government I almost consider unreported income virtuous. Almost, because there has some public funds. In any case taking undeserved money is a different case and if there's inconsistency in my thought, I don't mind hearing about it.

I don't believe anyone with a cash business reports all income. That would be like thinking I'm the only one the whore is fucking.

wall street was running scams, madoff is in jail, investment scams billions of dollars.

jb, u dont need a link for that, google it, baby

its on both ends, but the greed is what got the issue started of the last recession, too much greed in wall street.
im all for bringing our military home and putting em on the border and keep the illegals out and the ones that are here make em pay taxes and put em on the books if they are not criminals.
IMO, the economy is getting better anyway, so this silly argument of food stamps will go away.
 keep the peace boys.

			WOW!
An Interesting and LOADED thread!

The issue is real but the reality is that individuals continue to suffer with and without govt assistance!

BJ, just an FYI one of the reasons that the unemployment rate has/is dropping is not because fewer individuals are claiming unemployment many have STOPPED claiming it because theirs has run out! That being said there are still many unemployed out there that are going unreported!

The issue of the original post/thought was why might someone get $200 in Food Stamps when they are charging the rate you quoted. AM I the only one who realizes that not all of the ladies are booked everyday? That they may not have the ability to make ends meet and as a result have need of this subsidy?

The posts in this thread about corporate corruption, big business scamming us all, banks, corporations, and even our own government hosing all of us ... are spot on!

Do I want ANY child to go hungry? Hell NO! And there are a wide variety of services in place to ensure that doesn't happen ALL of the time! But the reality is that it does.

During the holiday season perhaps we should think more about others then ourselves and maybe consider giving what we can to those in need. And if we ourselves are in need perhaps a little recognition that we are still fortunate in so many ways!

Jeesh ... Why not say Happy Holidays instead of than Bah "f'n" Humbug!

That was inspiring, Yes it is the time to reflect how fortunate we may be and do just that little extra, for those who may just need just that little extra boost.

 Thanks

No. That's not how it works. They may stop looking for work, but it has nothing to do with whether or not they are getting unemployment benefits.

Please enlighten us since I am sure we all know plenty of people that have lost their unemployment benefits and have given up searching for jobs. I personally know people that made mid six digits that are working at Kroger. Being underemployed is just as bad due to managers being intimidated by the accomplishments of an unemployed person.
