Well, she's wrong. It's because the Republicans insisted on nominating someone "electable". This was the easiest election to win, and the Republicans pissed it away.

LIAR!
You were chaff in the national decision. Lot of talk but no walk.
You have no right to bitch about anything. You simply stuck your head in the sand, Chicken Little.

speaking of which, so did I.
before the race got so tight I was dedicated to a write in vote, this time Powell... the closer it got the tighter it got or so it seemed ... 2 days prior, I made up my mind there was no way I could tolerate a same party admin and house and voted for Obama. (all the shitstiring bengazi bullshit made it alot easier than I thought, youre partly responsible ... snick
thats the first person on a ballot Ive voted for since clinton (2nd term) .. the rest have been write ins
with Bone-her and crew in the house I made the right decision.

Ann Coulter is an idiot--ot at least plays on in the media.
I have headr an interesting theme among a number of people I would have normally expected to vote Republican--a number of military friends and others who are reasonably well off and generally conservative. And all of whom voted for Obama this time, rather reluctantly.
They all gave essentially the same reason--worded differently. It essentially boiled down to this:
1. They are fiscal conservatives who have voted R for years
2. They do NOT like the Obama fiscal plans, it scares them.
3. They actually could live with Romney if they had to, and preferred him 1-on-1 with Obama.
BUT.....
4. They are afraid of the wacked out social conservatives in the Republican camp. Their comments, not mine:
--One is a Christians who is afraid of "the Jerry Fallwells and Focus on the Family types" who want to make the US a theocracy.
--I said he's sick and tired of being called a "Socialist welfare cheat" because he's black (he's a 24 yr retired Marine drill instructor who now lives in eastern Georgia)
--Another mentioned keeping politics out of their bedroom (I strongly suspect that individual--a successful bank VP--is gay)
--Lot's of comments about Republicans in favor of rape
--Lot's of laughing (and cringing) at Republican supporters of creationism.
I'm sure some folks on here will ridicule these points. So be it--my intention was not to argue these points but to answer the question, why Obama won. Take it for what it's worth, but fear of radical "fundamentalists" in the Republican party scared a lot of these people. Especially those with multiple tours in Afghanistan.
If the Republicans would boot the radical bible thumpers to the curb, get a candidate who has just a few likeable genes, and stand behing a fiscal conservative approach MINUS the racial overtones I think they will do far better.
The RWWs will say Romney lost the election, but I suspect if they look in the mirror they will see the real cause.

I'm not going to ridicule those points, Old-T. I think they are valid. Those are some of the reasons I can't be a Republican. I think the Democrats are much the same, but they don't have the "evangelical" baggage. The Republicans lost this election.
And CBJ7, I have to commend you. After months of denial, you admit that you were an Obamaton the entire time.
