Default Fun Things In Kansas City?

I will be visiting Kansas City soon, and as you may or may not know, I travel to not ONLY express my sexual liberation, but to see the country, as well.

I will be headed to Kansas city at the end of the monthk, and I have to say---I don't know ANYTHING about it! Hee hee, I thought it was in Kansas!!

So, what is there to do in Kansas City in late September?
(and what is the weather usullay like?)

OH!! And I'm also looking for a good SPANISH bistro, one that does more than Tapas.

Your help is ADORED!

The weather is usually pretty nice in September. If you're looking for a nice area to stay in, the Plaza is very upscale and pretty. Lots of shopping, restaurants, hotels and fountains.
There are a couple of haunted houses open on the weekends. The Beast and The Edge Of Hell.
Ren Fest is going on through October.

Here is a link for more things to do in KC. Enjoy your stay!

Great paella and tapas. They do a wonderful happy hour. One of the few places in town that does Sangria and Caprihinas the right way!

THANK YOU MIKE!!!!
I haven't had Sangri done "the right way" since I left Europe! I miss it so!!

And by Haunted Houses....do you mean mechanical Haunted? Or REALLY Haunted?
We have SOOOO many "really" haunted places overseas, sometime I really enjoy the mechanically haunted ones! They are so fun!!!

Hi, you make like Lills, www.lillson17th.com, for dinner you will find entrees not just tapas. For recreation you there is the Harry S. Truman Library, http://www.trumanlibrary.org/, the Nelson-Atkins Museum, http://www.nelson-atkins.org/, and if you have the time and enjoy a nice crafted beer you may also want to try a tour of Boulevard Brewery, http://www.boulevard.com/. They have a great tour and tasting after the tour.

I hope you have a wonderful trip to visit us.

The Liberty Memorial WW1 museum is pretty cool. They remodeled it not long ago and did a really good job of it. A very interesting place.

Right across the street is the Union Station, a very cool building from early KC history. And follow the walkway to Crown Center, one of the trendy shopping places here in KC.

Me. I'm like a rollercoaster and a rock concert all rolled into one. Okay, not really.

Actually, there is a Kansas City, Kansas and a Kansas City, Missouri - so you were partially correct. The Plaza is a good place to stay and play. Westport area for nightlife (near the Plaza area). Temps could be as warm as the upper 80s to low 90s or as cool as the 50s and 60s - it's a transitional weather pattern at this time of year.

Allie was mentioning the mechanical ones, since she hasn't had the chance to get back...

It depends a lot on what kind of scene you enjoy?..A little extra info could help.
A lot of the younger crowd likes to go to the Power and Light District in downtown KC for a 'night out'...It is not the nicest part of town, but it has always seemed pretty cool when I have gone...
(though, I normally prefer hole in the wall bars)

Yeah, the haunted houses are mechanical and there is a guy who roams around through the lines of people outside who pretends to eat this huge rat. I love Rat Man!
The Power & Light District is entertaining. It's by the Sprint Center. I used to frequent Angels Rock Bar.

Default Things to do

I wish I had the exact dates in front of me but I think the Plaza Art Fair is the same weekend that you are here? Might effect Plaza reservations??
Street vendors, music and restaurants sell food outside.

Very cool.

BTW we are the sister city of Seville, Spain. Have more fountains than Rome and more Boulevards than Paris.

Good restaurants also.

If you come to KC you should sample some BBQ. It is different than BBQ in other parts of the US. I am partial to the original Arthur Bryant's ( http://www.arthurbryantsbbq.com/our_...ants/index.htm ) or BB's Lawnside BBQ - which also has live blues most nights ( http://bbslawnsidebbq.com/ ). If you can go on a Tuesday night you will see one of the best blues bands in the country, Trampled Underfoot.

Speaking of Blues you should also check out Knuckleheads ( http://www.knuckleheadskc.com/ ). Fair warning ... Use a GPS to get there or get someone who knows how to get there to take you. Knuckleheads is a great bar/club. The neighborhood around the place is not great.
