Why do you say you are mixed
I have been in the hobby for ahwile now and I noticed that alot of african-american providers say they are mixed. I don't understand this as I doubt if its always true. Maybe it's just my perception. I say you are some of the most beautiful gals out there and don't need to say that your something your not. Just stay true to yourself and keep giving that good lovin
Any Comments

Your right, it's not always true...I had one provider tell me that before she changed her ethnicity to "mixed" she rarely received any calls...go figure
I've also seen ""exotic", "West Indies", and "Caribbean" used as well.

Didn't someone once say "perception is reality"?

Makes you wonder how many providers call themselves 'bisexual' when they're really lesbians...hmmm...

I have heard of those ones!
As someone said, perception is reality. I say let them label themselves whatever they want! If they are gorgeous and provide a great service, who cares. Sometimes people get too hung up on labels, and if this is their way of working around someones issues with labels, I think that is great!

lol...this is too funny. ive noticed the same.
i " AM" mixed. lol out of everything (the 4 races im mixed with)..AA is the least of what i am. however, i do advertise as AA/Mixed... why?
1. out of everything..i look AA
(have you seen a puerto rican or dominican that actually look AA due to their complexion/hair?) -im sure its due to 'my' complexion & 'my' hair. however if you see my parents, then you know for sure...i am mixed! my mom isnt AA at all. (but no one in hobby land will ever meet her hehehehe)
1b.. the eyes, my families eyes are all sorts of colors. so you never whos are "real" and who wears contacts. lol one of my darkest cousins, has bright blue/grey eyes!!
2. i identify the most with being AA.
(grew up around mostly AA, am more accustomed to their ways, traditions, foods, etc. now when one of my uncles found this out...boy was he pissed! he really got on me for denying who i really am. which is AA is the least)
i dont know about the others, but i am one of the mixed ones.
lol...and im sure they all say--well sure im mixed, im mixed with indian...well, i in fact can prove i am! and lets just say i enjoy the perks of being native american.
hope everyone enjoys their weekend!!
(look forward to the other responses)

Interesting topic . . . A non-issue for me . . . We're all mixed, to some extent . . .
Enjoy and appreciate the variety present in the human race . . .
It would be really boring if we all looked similar . . .

Agreed, slowhand.
Most Americans are not full-blooded anything. If there is a black lady claiming to be "mixed" there's a good chance that, somewhere along the line, she is. I know of some European communities in the US that discourage, and sometimes forbid, breeding outside of their gene pool, but this is not very common.
Also, whether these ladies may know it or not, it's a well practiced marketing strategy to emphasize the best qualities of a business. I would never tell someone to flat out lie in an advertisement, but if it works best for her to market herself as a mixed or exotic lady, then she's doing right by herself to include that in her ads. And, as I mentioned, most of the people in America are mixed to some degree.
IMO if the lady has the skill set, looks, and emotional maturity to survive in this profession, I don't think it should be an issue no matter how she markets herself. If she's lying about something that can be verified, her true colors (hehe didn't really intend that pun until I reread) will eventually show and she will no longer have a steady business.

We're ALL mixed.
Here, there are pure assholes, and pure cheapskates. Hope I'm not a member of the first, hope I am a member of the second.

I think provider mentioned mix b/c there are some hobbyists who won't see a black provider. I've noticed in my local area where several once "black" providers have changed their race to mixed. In hard economic times, they have to open themselves to a broader market. I, for one, find certain mixed raced intoxicating. Give me a petite Amer-Asian girl any day-- same for a hot latina mixed lady.

Thank you for all the replys. I guess if it gets them more calls then it's good for them. I just personally think they are the best in many ways just the way they are. By the way I am white,not that it matters

Not meant to encite, just echo the sentiment shared earlier in the thread. That is in some geographies being black or AA brings less by way of business or rate.
Not a direct quote but you'll get the gist...from another forum:
Quote:
Mongerer's Guide to Understanding Advertisements:
Exotic = Black
Ethnic = Black
Mixed = Black
Light skinned = Black
Worldly = Black
Cuban = Black
Brazillian = Black
Dominican = Black
German/Indian Mix = Black
Cajun = Black
Creole Mix = Black
Ebony = Black
Best of Both Worlds = Black
Visiting = Probably still Black
(and on and on...you get the idea...)

The reality is in some places, skin tone plays a role in what a lady can command. Probably the most interesting ads I've seen are dark skinned women advertising as "blondes" which is, as a result of hair colorants, technically correct. I guess the thinking is that using "blond" in the headline will at least get click-thru as it is not normally associated with darker skinned individuals.

And that is why I avoid the Amish providers. Favorite band 10 years ago was the Electric Amish.
