If someone believes strongly against abortion because they consider it murder, then why would they make exceptions for rape or incest? If someone attacks me, robs me, leaves me paralized, does it seem reasonable that I can take it out of a 3rd party who wasn't the scum who did it to me?
I think abortion is one of those very few areas that has so little room for logical gray; therefore so little room for compromise; therefore such a difficult political issue. If you see it as murder of an innocent, how can you easily compromise? If you don't see a fetus has a life, why would you compromise?
I actually can respect the "no rape or incest exceptions" as logically and moraly consitent.
To me, someone who says "abortion is murder but it's OK to kill an innocent person sometimes" are the ones I immediately categorize as insincere folks who want to use the abortion topic as a political weapon.
The one area that does cause far bigger problems in my mind are those few cases where the pregnancy puts the woman's life at serious risk. For the pro-lifers, that must be a far more difficult logical and ethical discussion.

Or we may be aborting the next Gandhi, Tesla, Einstein, or Martin Luther King, Jr. I support abortion rights, but the excuse that we may be aborting the next Hitler is one of the stupidest reasons to support abortion that there is.

Pre-mediated murder happens all around us, but most who oppose it don't go out "in arms" over it (whatever you mean by that). I assume you oppose the kinds of pre-mediated murder that takes place in our cities everyday....WTF do you do about it ?
