Default Endless threats by Trump

Now Trump tells Walmart not to raise prices because of increased tariff costs. "I will be watching" he says.

The odd part is Trump said foreign governments would be paying those costs.

He also threatened musicians.

Hard to believe Trump has any support.

... So telling Walmarts to absorb the tariff costs, and tellin'
a sad aged musician that he's washed-up is somehow "Threatening"??

Hmmmm.... Surely would seem that your version of a threat
and me-own version are completely different.

These are the key words spoken: "I will be watching." Maybe that doesn't translate well to Australian.

Some words also about having trouble re-entering the country.

Trump is one sad dude.

So you admit that he came out publicly and acknowledged that the NOT the exporting country pays the tariffs.

Just think about how many small businesses are going to go out of business. And how their owners are going to feel about Republicans going forward.

President Trump

Does that make it more clear ?

I thought it was called using the "bully pulpit". You know, like JFK did when he scolded the US steel industry for announcing a 3.5% price increase back in 1962. They quickly abandoned it.

Too bad most of you aren't old enough to remember such things.

A little backward.

It is Trump himself who is causing the price increase. Yet he rages that others should pay for them.
And threatens them if they do not.

Or he threatens them before.

He spent all weekend threatening people on his failed social media bulletin board,

Hmmm... ok, I see your point. Let's try a more recent example.

After Joey blew inflation up to 9.1% by signing reckless spending bills (American Rescue Plan, Inflation Reduction Act), he took to the bully pulpit and blamed it all on "price gouging" by businesses. He threatened to prosecute Big Ag for raising prices and/or shrinking the size of their products.

Is that any different?

Fair point, with maybe the difference being he didn't single out one single company. Walmart execs should call all the other major retailers and say let's add a price line item to show the tariff cost on each item.

Trump is scared of Wallyworld because he does know enough to realize MOST of his supporters don't have a choice but to shop there. His base is 90% poor and uneducated and filled out with the ultra wealthy who pay no taxes and have probably never actually shopped retail in their lives. Like Trump's fascination with the word "groceries"...obviously a new concept to him when it was introduced to him.

I disagree that it is a fair point because it is not the same thing as far as government influence. It's apples and oranges. Walmart can (and will) tell Trump to fuck off because they don't need the government for anything. Ag does not have that same independence in LL's Biden example because they do need the government ($10bln in 2024)... by the way, why the fuck was Biden even brought up in this thread about Trump trying to bully Walmart and The Boss? LOL
