Default Trump taking on Big Pharma

Americans pay the most of anyone in the world for prescriptions drugs via Medicare. Sometimes 10 times what people in other countries pay. Those without Medicare and pay directly may be paying even more.

Now Trump is using his bully power, and proposes Medicare will start paying the same price as what the lowest country is paying.

Supposedly there are so many pharma lobbyists in Washington DC that it is estimated there is one lobbyist for every member of Congress.

It would be nice if this happened. Will the Trump bully negotiating tactic stand firm this time ?

He’ll never go through with it.

The stupid fuck probably doesn’t understand how much money he can make off of Pharmaceutical prices. Yet.

Taking on Big Pharma is admirable.

Your blanket hatred for Trump may be overdone here.

Ya'll didn't read the entire press release... he's not taking on Big Pharma to get the lowest price for all Patriotic Amerikans...

He wants the lowest prices on HIS meds... he's paying waaaay to much for the truckloads of Adderal and Ozempic he's using.

I've wondered about this one a lot over the years. I live in a border town, and can walk over and get meds, no insurance, exact meds, for 1/4-1/10 of the non insurance price in the states. Plus for the most part you don't need a script.

Examples: Insulin (Pen and bottle type) $225 for 6 month supply in mexico. $4525 in US ($450 with insurance)

Adderal in mexico (Brand name) $60 for 60 day supply, US $850.
Generic is cheap both sides.

So I hope he can get something done for critical needs meds, ie insulin, antibiotics etc.

Zepbound and ozempic and shit can be expensive, it's designer drugs for a specific issue of fat people.

The bottom line seems to be that the only people that are paying for research and development of drugs are in the United States. Trump is trying to get that under control so that everyone pays.

The negotiation pricing of drugs here in the U.S. seems be shuttering small independent pharmacies in rural areas.

Not at all. I’ll believe it when I see it.

He’s notorious for lying about anything and everything, but slow to act on his meat and potato issues.

My opinion of the man isn’t based on random factors. It’s based on a long track record that predates his “presidency” by decades.

I totally believe that we should have done this when we adopted ACA, but as you recall, we didn’t quite get everything we wanted from our friends across the aisle as we pushed that legislation through.

Other countries national health plans negotiate with big Pharma. We don’t. Wonder why?

If you think Trump is gonna wave his magic Sharpie and lower drug prices lower just like that, then you’re sadly mistaken.

No one said anything about a magic wand.

We probably don't negotiate well because of the hundreds of pharma lobbyists.

This is a serious topic for those who have to use some of these prescription drugs, especially the ones with
a chronic and endless need.

Trump deserves credit for even trying to tackle Big Pharma. Big Pharma is about 6'10" and 370 lbs.
