i like the minerals deal b/c it puts U.S. skin in the game. Ukraine just added a grizzly bear to its team. we'll take a real dim view of Putin messing up our plans. i don't think Trump thought this through, but just by luck-or really just by greed-he ended up doing something right.

Putin is gonna have to think real long and hard about his war plans. he's gonna pay a price if he bombs Trump's mines or U.S. contractors on the ground.

the truth is both Putin and Trump are bullies. Zelensky's calculus is that between the two, at least bully #1, Trump, didn't invade Ukraine like bully #2, Putin..

as corrupt as he is, he'll pocket some of the money-"to whet my beak, and for my trouble"-but at least some of it will go to the U.S. Treasury, hopefully..

he's still an embarassment, but in this case, i'm ok with it. now, basically, the U.S. is on the hook to help Ukraine, which is what America should have been doing all along even without the minerals deal.
