I agree, it's absolutely ludicrous. And we still can't 'win' a war because we choose to harass religious fanatics who don't wave white flags.

You hit it, and not only can we not play "sugar daddy" to the world any longer, we need to take care of our house, Bin Laden is gone, bring our boys home and get to work on our infrastructure.

The world runs on oil. China and India are emerging markets, they need it. So we are sitting on it. Of course, unless you are involved in the oil industry, you will pay with the lives of our soldiers, and taxes to pay for their sacrifices. Don't be naive, it's about a valuable resource, not democracy. Looks like more bullying on the playground! What if intelligence is also a natural resource, and there is only so much available, like gold, that would explain all the stupidity! Perhaps all people are not created equal, most are stupid as paste

Excellent point, but unfortunately lost on most Americans. Add to that the military industrial complex which has spread it's manufacturing throughout rural America thus giving it a stranglehold on those economies. Add also the absolute evil of the Koch bros and the Citizens United ruling leveled against the people by the conservative Roberts court and you have an unquenchable machine even democracy may not be able to keep at bay.
