Default What happened to the ability to delete a post within a few moments?

Used to be if we made a post we could completely delete it within a minute or so if nobody else had made a comment in the same thread following. What happened to this? I ask because sometimes it would be useful when I'm working on an ad (especially if the danged photos refuse to load), am editing the HNFPL, or if I drink too much Jameson and doze off at the computer with a chihuahua on my lap who may keep typing.

Thanks!

The ability to edit your own post is still an option. You have up to an hour to edit your post prior to it locking and you having to contact us.

I know, but sometimes just deleting and starting over is more expediently preferable, especially when the system or my Internet connection out in the deep, dark, spooky woods is being persnickety and everything freezes up.

Thanks anyway.

You still can Fancy, or at least I think so. You sure someone else didn't respond immediately afterward? Also, I think it works only with posts not entire threads.

I'm not sure, the interface and permissions are slightly modified for moderators so I am unable to test it.

i think the feature is gone for her now

and was never there for men

before the upgrade, there was an edit/delete button but only editing was allowed for me

after the upgrade, i noticed the delete button disappeared.

before the upgrade, I'd seen women delete posts. but i never could make it work.

Yep, it was there, but as GP indicated, disappeared after the last ECCIE system upgrade. It worked for any post for a limited period, and would eliminate a thread if the deleted post was the initial comment and nobody had come in afterward yet. Used it many times. (Didn't know it wasn't available to all members, evidently.)

I sure appreciated that function. Occasionally, and especially when working on a major update to the Houston Newbie-Friendly Provider List, my time expires. I have to copy and paste to a new post and pick up where I left off. (No, copy and paste to a program on my computer doesn't work well. Won't correctly preserve the format, spacing, typeface, color, font, photos, etc. Same for the ECCIE Notepad.)

Oh, well.

^^^^ There is an easy trick (no pun) to preserve pasted formatting.

Also....occasionally i wanted to post a thread asking why providers could delete and tricks couldn't but never got around to it. For me,....there was a delete button that never allowed me to delete....only edit.

but i know i witnessed provider posts disappearing

I believe one can still delete a post using the Go Advanced feature in the Edit mode.

okay i just deleted one

didn’t "go advanced"

in full site, click edit

there is a delete button right of "go advanced" which brings up (below it) a radio button bullet list and a dialogue box for a reason

FYI....nothing is ever deleted! You may not see it, but the mods can see it. I guess you would call it a soft delete. Sometimes I remove them if there are multiple post like that in a thread that isn't very long

Hmmmm.... Nope, sorry, not seeing anything that says "delete" anywhere on my side, and I'm on the full, non-mobile site sitting at my computer. I've always used advanced editing for my Georgia size 3 type font. USED to be a delete function there, plainly visible.

So, gents have the capability to eat their words, but providers don't?

I'll just have to be more careful when writing, and keep the chihuahuas off the keyboard. As I stated, for those of us who post ads (and in my case, edit a project), it was useful.

I figured as much. Seems like that would clog the system with useless crapola. Thanks for flushing!

Not sure it would be wise to do that. If this is something just reserved for the gentlemanly side, you might be violating guidelines to share it via screen shot. The delete function just plain isn't on any screen I currently have access to. If providers were intended to use it, it likely would be as clearly apparent as it was before, unless this is a glitch or an option the programmers forgot to include for ladies on the last system update.
