I bet Dr. J and Delonte West would have hit that. Yall remember when James Worthy got caught in a sting in Houston? He ended up getting out of jail and making it back to the game on time to beat the Rockets.

Griffin's dunks were OK, but it did kinda looked like they grooved the skids for him to make sure he got to the end.

McGee did quite well for a 7 footer (hard to make dunks look flambouyant at that height), though he seemed to have exhausted his creativity by the time he got to the finals. This contest is best suited for guys somewhere in the middle area height around 6'4", 3-4 inches in both directions, a bit wiry and with good ups.

It got a little long with the showmanship stuff, but overall one of the better dunk contests.

IMHO, the Slam dunk contest has become more of a bore over the years. There is no more originality in dunking, everything has been done. That's one of the reasons Jordan didn't participate the first few years he was in the league. If the NBA banned dunking like they did up until the early 70's, these guys would have to actually learn to play the damn game instead of all that playground B.S they do now. IT is a team game and one of the main reasons the leagues viewiership has waned in the past few years. Teams that play complete team ball can win championships. Seems the past few years, Refs have had a larger role in pushing the NBA's choice to win championships.......IMHO.

I think they have gone overboard with the props. I seriously hope they can get back to showing off their athleticism and skills. Leave the toys at home, or in the parking lot.


(If you want that kind of thing, then do it right and allow the players and their sponsors to make videos of their stunts and mail them in.)

I had no issue with the dunk contest and the All-Star weekend in general. After all, its entertainment.
