there was a thread a week ago about gift cards... what are your favorite ones to get ladies? and gents... is it easier to give these as opposed to the traditional ways? let me know I am kind of curious and considering doing this as an option for the holidays.lol licks and kisses

If I were to get a provider a GC; I would ask her what was her store of choice; otherwise I would get a AMEX, Visa, or Discover card that could be used anywhere

Each GC has a 800 # on the back that can be used to check balances: I would suggest checking the balance before exchanging pleasantries

I dunno, like they said in the report, they wait for the card to be purchased. I have accepted gift cards in the past, no problem with it, if we know each other. But we all just have to be aware that the problem is out there.

I just saw the you tube broadcast; and I agree you have to be careful. I never buy GCs off the rack.

I never use gift cards. Why use a gift card and not cash???

Well….welcome to the dark side. Here is a typical scenario. Guy needs 200 for hobby visit, but SO watches where all the $$ goes. So hobby guy tells his SO he is going to change the oil, filters and other expense car maintenance yada yada stuff. So he goes to Wally World and buys 100 of car stuff and 200 on a gift card. He comes back and works on car.

SO asks, “How much did all that cost?"

"Ahh 300 hun.”


She replies, “Gee that is a lot of money."


"Yeah I know, but it would have been over 500 if we had taken it to the car dealer."


"Ya…you’re right. Thanks hun”

SO is impressed with his money saving mechanical skills.

(Grasshopper tip....don't put the receipt in your pocket and let the SO find it. Okay. Leave it at Wally World or something)


Truth be known, most of us don’t have to do things like this….but if you get a gift card you now have some background info on why that may have happened. That or he is trying to rip you off!
