What were some of the reasons you have tipped?
If appointment communications are clear and session starts on time my tip will be at least 15%. If we get along on a personal level, starting with the initial contact email and progressing to probably future visits then my tip will go to 50%.
Does anyone else have a thought-out tipping strategy?

Well, current US military doctrine would indicate a rapid amphibious assault to secure key ports followed by shock and awe followed by a swift attack of the city center and subsequent occupation. The problem with that is that although taking control of a few buildings and establishing a green zone is trivial, it leaves most of the urban landscape in de facto insurgent control while the Chinese rally to retake the island. I suggest the old ways are best. Lay siege to the city and cut it off from the rest of the island while focusing deployed troops and materiel on fortifying the beaches against the inevitable counter-assault.

you know that's interesting I haven't given it much thought. I consider myself a "big tipper" for the most part. I average 25-30% with my stylist and nail tech, great service at a restaurant or bar will see 30-50% (upwards to 100% if I have had a few cocktails and don't trust my math)
I have not tipped an escort (in cash at the end of an encounter) before. I Think this is in part because I do pay up front and discretely (contrary to popular advice). I am hard pressed to think of any situation where I pay for something in advance and tip prior to service. After an encounter I would think it rude to say " wow you were better than expected here's an extra 50 bucks!" Hmm... something to think about.

A "tip" or "gratuity" is a way of subsidizing the income of a service industry employee where the establishment is earning the money for the service and providing a small, disproportionate pay to the person who's actual delivery of the service makes the experience more enjoyable.
I tip a lot for good service to waiters, waitresses, bartenders etc......
You write a good Ad Mr. Peabody..... I hope it's working out for you...
Not to hookers.......
Well... NEVER to Independents... I did tip a couple of agency girls years and years ago..... Rates were $160 an hour and the girls were making between $70 and $90..... If I got a great experience for the full time slotted I would occaisional drop a little extra.......

I'll flip the question to why I stopped tipping. In my experience it caused complacency, an ATF of mine seemed to come to expect that I would just do it. Slowly the service level dropped and TCB went out the window. This was a provider I saw at least 5 times off p411, considered her my ATF until I felt I was being taken advantage of.

So Centaur, your saying my post was that transparent.
I just meant to suggest honey may work better than vinegar.
Bob, you don't think carrying an additional $20 in your back pocket couldn't help put you at the front of the list for your next appointment?

If the beer doesn't fall off her head while giving a BJ during the ball game...
I've rarely tipped. But if someone I am particularly close to or have a long term relationship with (IE have seen several times) and she gets in a jam, I have been known to help out with various things, often with no expectation of payback. Sometimes WITH expectations, but usually discuss those before helping.
Several dinner dates, concerts, etc...where I pick up the tab...but I DON'T pay for time during those events....if there is play before or after, yes...
At up to $5 a minute (higher if you actually time activities), sorry but tipping is not a requirement. And that doesn't make you cheap.
If a girl EXPECTS a tip, thats likely the last time I see her.

Nah, just a chance for a cheap laugh. I tip service industry employees pretty well. I rarely tip independent providers for the same reason Whispers doesn't. Generally only if things have gone well over the scheduled time and she doesn't ask for more, I'll add something extra since I wouldn't still be there if things hadn't gone really well and non-clock-watchers are good as gold. I'll do other things for providers. But gratuities make sense for underpaid employees, not self-employed workers. If I want to show my appreciation for indies, I'll offer a more thoughtful consideration. Just my two cents.

The way,I figure it, if they are working as an independent owner/operator, I expect that they've set their rate at the level they want. That applies across all services, from hairdressers to massage therapists to providers -- if they have the ability to set their rates, even if influenced by the "market" then I don't think they should expect a tip. If they are working in an environment where the rates and their pay are set by a "boss", such as at a hair salon or massage spa, they I will tip based on service. I do make an exception for massage providers who set their massage rate to the local standard yet provide the extra services we all enjoy. Then I figure the tip is for the extra service and will pay accordingly. But if she's already charging a rate that is comparable to house fee + tip, I'm sure not going to add to the bill. And I will go see a good independent hairdresser at a higher rate than the salon girl, as not every decision is purely price-based.

From an independent providers perspective, while I'm terribly grateful to anyone who would wish to leave a little extra for our time together is very generous and kind indeed, I think my rate is fair and reasonable enough. I never expect any more. Though I'm only speaking for myself here, your return business and a well-connected session, gentlemanly and dependable behavior gets you to the top of the list over other requests. Additionally, an extra gratuity from someone who perhaps treated me with behaviors slightly unbecoming would not sway a negative opinion, nor move him to the top of any list.
But I must say, an extra gratuity or sweet thoughtful occasional gift, in addition to connected sessions, gentlemanly and dependable behavior will make my heart flutter, my cheeks blush ( both sets) and my knees buckle with the swoon.

Absolutely not. if a couple of sawbucks will sway her over my wit charm and reasonable social skills. We probably were that great of a match to start wih.
PS. if you tip between 15-50% who are you seeing that charges 40-133?

I am all for a thoughtful gift, or token trinket, maybe even a new set of tires
but I don't see that as a tip for service, that's a token, bribe, or side deal.
I have heard rumor that a fine craft cocktail and expertly prepared oreille de porc might just bring on a hint of swoon.

I would agree that the tip doesn't move anyone to the top of my list. It is completely based on connection, dependability and mutual respect as well as a great time during a session. I think that return business is better. Seeing a guy a second, third or fourth time (or more) is better than a tip.

I tip well in restaurants, etc. In the hobby, I keep a little extra in my pocket if the lady goes above and beyond.
It goes beyond tipping however. Returning time and time again to someone who pleases you is the ultimate form of tipping.
