A light year represents the distance traveled by light in one year. Light travels at approximately 300000 kilometers per second (approximately 186000 miles per second); so, a light year represents the distance of approximately 9.5 trillion kilometers (approximately 5.9 trillion miles)!

kinda tall huh?

Damn, you beat me to it. I saw that yesterday but never got around to posting about it.

The star Proxima Centauri and the binary stars Alpha Centauri are in the range of 4.2 to 4.4 light years from earth.

That means that "horse head" is longer from top to bottom than the separation between earth and its nearest star neighbors.

That's a big fucking cloud of gas.
