Google Voice

I was checking out google voice and ran into a problem.. maybe one of you can help?
I downloaded it to my phone, created a new gmail account to use it from, but it used the same phone number that already comes from my phone. How do I create a separate number??

You will have to sign into google voice app or forward that number to your regular number via a computer.
