Default Shutdowns Are Great Reminders of How Little Government We Need

The vast majority of the federal bureaucracy could disappear overnight and most of us wouldn't notice. A point that Republicans need to learn how to make when arguing with Democrats is that the government is not inherently good. It shouldn't have any sacred place in any discussion.

in the words of Thomas Jefferson, "That government which governs least, governs best."

I’ve not had any inconveniences whatsoever due to the government “shutdown”, even having federal healthcare and retirement benefits.

Actually, we don't need a Federal Government. They waste money, time and resources. Individual states can and do run themselves. The only thing that might be of value Federally is the Military.

You people above have no idea how much the government does for you on an everyday basis. You have no idea of how many people who are living off credit or borrowing money during this just so some gov't services can function. Lack of gov't services have cost lives.(camp mystic...) live in your bubble of pickup trucks and your mother-in-law supporting you as you run around cheating ...take the mirror off the wall and look around a bit.

Maybe you are dependent on the govt. but the govt is dependent on my taxes. I’m not dependent on the govt.

The gov't is dependent on our tax dollars to do things like shut our border down and buildup our military. If everybody stopped paying taxes, what do you think would happen? I do not think your mother in law's money will save you...or your truck...or your guns...now call Michael Berry and tell him what i just said.

The US laid the foundations of the most powerful country to have ever existed, before income tax was even considered.

My pickup was > 2x what I paid for our first house, and that was showing restraint on the trim level I ~really~ wanted.
