Idea for New Orleans old airport terminal?

Eventually the new airport terminal will be ready at Louis Armstong New Orleans International Airport, but what should the city do with the old terminal area?

Turn it into a Food court only with wifi stations and phone charging stations for weary travelers. Merge it with the new one. Remodel it.....

I think a drive through facility for providers would be cool. Better safety for providers and honoring the New Orleans tradition of a city of prostitution.
And we already have the drive- through Daiquiri stores to get the party started.



Of course the chance it could happen is about the same as being hit by an asteroid and winning the lottery on the same day.

I don't think it's likely to happen here, but that article brought back some memories for me. I lived for a while in Kreuzberg, Berlin very close to the airport in the early 80's. Night life was great, as a lot of Europeans lived in West Berlin, it was a crazy time before the wall came down.

I agree. A big part of the plan in Berlin is to push the prostitutes out of the city and out of sight.

if they simply just made indoor prostitution legal, it
would alleviate the probs from street prostitution while
greatly improving safety & work conditions

when Rhode Island had a loophole in its legislation that
made indoor prostitution legal, reported rape offences fell
by 30% and female gonorrhoea incidence declines by over 40%

Another idea would be to convert it to a hotel à la the TWA Hotel at JFK. Since decriminalized sex work is unlikely here in Louisiana for quite some time, at least give us heaux an immaculately designed option we can discreetly host from.

I would definitely post up in Kenner more often if there were somewhere to stay there that looked like this:

Germany has legal brothels in many cities, some being quite upscale from what I have read. The incidents of STDs is lower among the resident prostitutes than the population in general since condom use and weekly health check is mandatory. However, street prostitution still exist in spite of that. And the authorities want to sweep that out of the public eye and control it.

there's many legal brothels; however, there's many more prostitution free zones in Germany

an estimated 98% of Germany geographically,
and over 90% of German towns and cities are
restricted areas; cities where commercial sex is prohibited

Germany's legalization goes against street solicitation,
non-native sex work, fuels police abuse, and restricts &
criminalizes workers from working collectively or from
their own home

the brothels may be upscale due to the
millions that management steals from tax evasion

then there are brothels that charge a 'flat-rate'
where clients pay an entrance fee that covers all the
services and their whole duration at the brothel



flat-rate brothels are like an all-you-can-eat buffet with
fees as low as 49 Euros....
(finally outlawed in 2017.... took long enough ugh)

legalization still allows LE to treat prostitutes as
criminal, and even allows them to bust in a worker's
home based on suspicion of commercial sex taking place

due to the zoning in Munich, where 3% of the city
allows prostitution, LE regularly stages sting operations
to lure workers into prohibited zones

prostitutes are criminalized if they work from home, and
they can be fined for visiting clientele, so they're
only allowed to work in regulated areas that exclude them


legalization is specific laws and policies that
regulate sex work via zoning, licensing, restrictions,
etc. and criminalize sex workers outside of the regulations

The distinction between legalization and decriminalization is momentous. I fear here in the US, if legalization were implemented, LE will be even more aggressive towards unregulated sex workers (mainly those who're more marginalized and lack access and resources) than police officers in Germany and other European countries.
