Default If pay for play were legalized, what would be the consequences?

I know this subject has been discussed and re-discussed, but with the current happenings I have pondered the question again!

If only half of the allegations concerning GFX are fact, they present a good argument for legalization!

That girls are often abused in our current system is a given! Not just those who get caught up by a pimp, but independents as well.

A case in point is a wonderful provider I know who was beaten by a client! Wouldn't legalizing prostitution have prevented this? Or at the very least the monger could have been prosecuted?

Concerns over STDs as well. Wouldn't licensing with required periodic testing relieve some of this concern?

How about the ubiquitous hobby phone? In most cases it would not be necessary!

The biggest question would be what would it do to ladies income and monger's expenses. Surely supply would increase, but I think quality would also as competition for clients would increase. Conversely, I think the market would expand as gents who were afraid of legal problems would come out of the closets.

Our streets would be cleaned of SWs and it would kill the Strip Clubs - or maybe not!

Then there is the problem that along would come government licensing and regulation - not a pretty sight! Might be worse than the pimps!

I think the government or the state would definitely get too involved and want to regulate and tax everything. I applaud the state of Nevada for legalizing the hobby, but they have over regulated the legal brothels.

I know that ladies are scared to call the police when they've been brutalized but I wish that you would tell your friend that making a report of this is just a good thing. I "get it" when ladies don't wish to.

A couple of years ago, I was stalked by a crazy lady. The threats started in a typical fashion, I'll find out where you live, etc., but then ... there were violent threats. I spoke to my roommates at the time, and we decided that it was alright for me to file a police report for harassment.

And I would have done it, too. After that decision was made, the threats slowed down and then, finally, stopped.

I've frankly had it with those who will terrorize sex workers because they think of sex workers as being powerless. I doubt the a police officer would want to see a prostitute hurt, or any decent person.

I'm not sure that legalization is the answer, though. I'm VERY for decriminalization. Because it doesn't matter to me about getting things legal. I'm NEVER going to get a license to practice my craft.

I will say that a good benefit of decrim is you can BET that if someone like myself saw a young lady, or male, being trafficked, it would be reported and stopped. Now, very few ladies would step up to that plate.

I think that reports of trafficking are highly exaggerated but it exists.

Anyway, it's a good topic. And the bottom line is this ... even if it's decriminalized, you're not going to see mainstream acceptance of prostitution.

So keep that hobby phone!!!

My thoughts, only.

Shit everything would suck. Girls rates would drop drastically but so would the level of service.

Then what about all the damn civil cases in court over ncns and cancellation fees etc.

The last thing I'd hope for is for the government to be involved and legalize prostitution. To me, it make LESS sense than keeping it a crime.

What I hope for is decriminalization. The government has NO BUSINESS regulating who I sleep with and why. Sex between consulting adults is none of the government's concern.

Rates would drop and Quality would improve over all.

Competition would be too great for it to be anything else.

I forgot about the decriminalization option. That is beyond doubt superior to any kind of regulation!

I think after a time, demand would increase enough that it would match or exceed supply. Certainly quality would go up in both clients and providers as well!

My first hobby experience was Chicken Ranch in Paurump NV. legal brothel. It was overpriced, you paid per nut! Prices are higher when the government makes pis emcee and medical a requirement.

City of San Antonio Code and Compliance Office would have another understaffed poorly run section.

I think it should be decriminalized and if regulated it should be done at state level.

Over taxation would be a big issue as well as harrassment.

In San Antonio we have too many politicians especially our city council who are hypocritic prudes and already harrass to the extreme the strip clubs and adult sex shops.
