I know that ladies are scared to call the police when they've been brutalized but I wish that you would tell your friend that making a report of this is just a good thing. I "get it" when ladies don't wish to.
A couple of years ago, I was stalked by a crazy lady. The threats started in a typical fashion, I'll find out where you live, etc., but then ... there were violent threats. I spoke to my roommates at the time, and we decided that it was alright for me to file a police report for harassment.
And I would have done it, too. After that decision was made, the threats slowed down and then, finally, stopped.
I've frankly had it with those who will terrorize sex workers because they think of sex workers as being powerless. I doubt the a police officer would want to see a prostitute hurt, or any decent person.
I'm not sure that legalization is the answer, though. I'm VERY for decriminalization. Because it doesn't matter to me about getting things legal. I'm NEVER going to get a license to practice my craft.
I will say that a good benefit of decrim is you can BET that if someone like myself saw a young lady, or male, being trafficked, it would be reported and stopped. Now, very few ladies would step up to that plate.
I think that reports of trafficking are highly exaggerated but it exists.
Anyway, it's a good topic. And the bottom line is this ... even if it's decriminalized, you're not going to see mainstream acceptance of prostitution.
So keep that hobby phone!!!
My thoughts, only.
