<same thing in Arlington near Dallas> Most city's are just in school zones right now but that will change with time I am sure considering the wrecks from cell phone usageso get a blue tooth or pull over every time your phone rings.
Staying downtown on north shoreline drive has it's perks and DISADVANTAGES.
You are only 100 feet from a police station and even if your hotel has a full bar and eating place in it some clients REFUSE to go see anyone near a police station. If cops are just driving by at shift change to go do there paper work and you happen to have a client coming your way they may panic. The perks is they have an excuse to be parked downtown they could say they were at the surf club eating or having a drink there is public parking everywhere and they could just walk to almost any hotel and visit most of the nicer hotels have happy hours and food.
The BW on the 11th floor has a GREAT BAR with A great Scene open to the public free drinks if you stay there closed on sunday and not open for lunch. They run drink specials often And there HOMADE fries ARE THE FREAKING BOMB... and I don't even like fries too much but with there dr.pepper wings goodness. Most rooms at the BW does not have heat just off fan and air you can ask for a space heater.
The Executive Surf Club is a great place for being social having drinks and there Burgers are great made to order ..I don't like the smell of fritos to me it smells like feet I did not know they add them to there burger but IT SURE WAS TASTY... And the BURGER WAS MADE PERFECT the way I like it ...Pink like pussy but not Bloody..LOL
U&I has great grilled shrimp and tbone plate did not have to add any sauce to the steak it was cooked perfect and that grilled shrimp was the best I EVER HAD IN A PLACE that was not Nanna's....If you are in a hurry this is the place to stop at rush hour or lunch hour they are fast fast fast
I am sure I have more info but I can not think and if any locals or visiting girls have more things to add to this list please do... Especially hotels where to stay and where not to stay and the reason.
OH I was told there was a local massage girl that hassels visiting ladies. I DO NOT KNOW THIS FIRST HAND I have been there 13 times never had a problem but People have told me about her. I know nothing though no name no location Nothing just heard it so take that as it is A RUMOUR....
I have also found out this City is an early bird City if you want to have 3 under your belt before noon you can. What ever time you start they will oblige. ALSO MOST CITYS are not good on the weekends Not this City I have not found a day they aren't good now week nights are bad hell nights period but everyday days is good.(this is for me and what I have experienced the 13 times/days I have been) you might rock and roll at night
Oh and Hotel names change names like people change underwear down there.. Hell last time the Omni changes to the Holiday Inn then there where two holiday inns on the same street and guys where going to wrong hotels knocking on wrong rooms LOL. Now this time there is only one. So... find out what your hotel use to be called it could of changes 3 times in a couple of months.

OH I ALMOST FORGOT The city of Refugio a town YOU MUST PAST going to Victoria will stop YOU FOR ANYTHING,, going 2 miles over the speed limit for your tent on the windows they racial profile they tear up your car looking for drugs they bring the dogs out and everything. If you get pulled over there you will be delayed about 2 hrs. most likely and they give you the judges cell number if you want to complain..... ANY EXCUSE to pull you over they will if you are following a car to close exiting the freeway to fast entering the freeway to fast ANYTHING..make sure you have insurance tags everything in order people.. I did and 3 people I know did. This at day morning and night we where all delayed 2 hrs. this is 3 different people three different races three tifferent car types and times of the day. I just got a warning for doing 5 miles over the speed limit YEAH,,, goodness
