I need help with taxes! previous years I have had a regular job and only claimed that as income...I need someone to prepare my return this year that knows this business

Pretty much the same as any other service business. Turbotax Deluxe will work. It's schedule C income and you will pay social security tax, too, through schedule SE. Schedule C is a laundry list of business expenses to get you to net taxable income. Deductible clothing would be along the lines of entertainers, but it has to be unique as compared to the same thing for everyone. Basically go through the 1040 instructions for schedule C and the embedded reference publications all available online, or let tax prep software take you through it.

You should be paying estimated federal and state taxes quarterly, too. I think that is 1040ES, but just take last year's tax, divide by 4 and pay on the due dates and you have it, though you will want to try to track with your actual take so you don't short yourself and have to pony up a lot on April 15.

If you also have regular wage income you still put that on your return as you always did and do as noted for your provider biz on schedule C.

The most important issue is what you use for your SIC code which describes your business activity.


There are some other stuff depending on if. You have dependents.
