Default A good cheap hobby phone/wireless plan

Can anyone recommend a good cheap hobby phone/wireless plan if its only going to be used about one day a month?

That is Trey's "wireless connection."

And that was a pretty stupid fucking question.

Most young Americans that I know, if they need a phone can get one.

+1 Why go with another phone when you can utilize multiple numbers on one device ?

Tracfon or straight talk. I had straight talk liked it. Both can be bought at Walmart.

Or an AT&T Pay-As-You-Go phone. I got a nice phone for $20 at Target in October when they were clearing out last year's models, and it doesn't cost you anything on the days you don't use it. When you do use it, it's $2/day. I bought a $25 prepaid card that's good for 3 months, and I've still got $17 on it.

Walmart.
Pay cash for the card.

If you know someone who just upgraded and you like the features on their phone pick it up from them, buy the cheap deal at Walmart (phone) and exchange simm cards, then buy minutes as you run down ... it auto tells you how much you got left ... Hint: Since the minutes expire in 30, 60, 90 days and in a year depending on how much you buy, if you replenish your minutes before they run out or the time lapses the remaining minutes will accummulate so they "roll over" on the acount on the new card refill.

You can talk and text on the pay as you go.

If you get a non-smart phone (i.e. something other than an iPhone, Android or BB), the $50 includes unlimited internet.

Lots of LG, Pantech & Samsung phones qualify for this plan.

Be very careful using your actual phone with Google voice if you have an SO. They can pick it up and look at it. Bad things will then happen. Yet you need to be just as careful that your SO never finds hobby phone... it is a dead give away that you are up to something even if she cannot see what is on it.

If you have ATT upgrade to a new phone and just keep the old phone "as a backup" she will never suspect. Make sure you delete all texts and numbers that are hobby related.

There is an old Eddie Murphy or Chris Rock skit... "Guys are sneaky bastards and come up with great places to hide their porn. I mean like CIA quality hiding spots. The problem is guys are lazy. They always end up getting caught. You know how they get caught... I will tell you. There wife leaves and they decide to pull out one of the videos from there stash. Then in the euphoria of the moment they forget to take it out of the DVD/VCR. Then the wife comes home and wants to watch one of her chick flicks and finds it."

The point of this is be a sneaky bastard but never a lazy bastard.

Last post has a very good point....

The Op's original question was about a cheap hobby phone.

But........................

If you are going to use the the thing once a month, to contact someone, then shut it off for a month, then make contact again... etc......

If you have a ATF... that you need to contact, you might need to tell her you have to ditch phones once a month,,, ( 30 bucks, you can get a phone and a number once a month) if you are on the constant troll for nookie... you better find a good place to hide your communication device.

I have seen posts, where ATT might be the best bet, pull the sim card out of the phone, put it it somewhere that you might remember to find it, and just keep the "hobby" phone in the glove compartment of your vehicle. (with no contacts on it) The SO finds the phone, just tell her you found it in a parking lot and did not feel the urge to throw it away.
You go Sneaky Pete you are going to have to remember shit...
